From content director at Colgate-Palmolive Co. to the diversity, equity and inclusion business manager at Macy’s Inc., the list of jobs offering the chance to make over $200,000 includes careers in a wide a range of industries—one of the early revelations from New York City’s new salary transparency law.

These People Quit Higher Paying Jobs for Better Work-Life Balance. Then Inflation Arrived

Many of the millions of people who switched jobs during the pandemic are feeling the bite of inflation especially hard, and for an often overlooked reason—they opted for pay cuts.

A sizable share of pandemic-era job switchers took pay cuts, according to new research. In a survey of more than 2,300 workers, 32% of those who changed jobs since early 2020 said they made less money as a result.
