Feeling Thankful

I make an effort to practice gratitude throughout the year, and Thanksgiving is another natural opportunity to pause and reflect not only on the day, but also on the year that is coming to a close. This year, the running list of things for which I am thankful for is long -- at the top of the list are the health and happiness of my friends and family, the ability to have an impact, and you guessed it, Verizon. I feel grateful to lead the Verizon Media team, and I am so proud of the positive impact we have on our customers and what we are building. 

Every day around the world we connect people to their passions, and it is a responsibility we take seriously -- one that we continue to evolve alongside the evolving needs of our customers. 

You’ll see this light up in many ways this season when we help people maximize the holidays through one connected ecosystem. Yahoo Mail helps users stay organized during the busy holiday season and manage travel itineraries while Yahoo Sports provides fans with NFL live, so despite travel plans, fans can follow the games and their Fantasy teams. HuffPost offers new takes on classic pies, and Yahoo Shopping provides Black Friday deals and holiday gift guides to make hunting for the best gift a little easier. MAKERS launched a special digital pop-up featuring female-founded brands and products, and In The Know curates topical content for its majority Gen-Z consumers. The list goes on, but the theme is the same: we are passionate about serving our customers and dedicated to creating products that serve their needs today and will evolve with them tomorrow. 

We’re continuing to explore ways to strengthen our data ecosystem, build integrated media platforms and deepen the connective tissue in the journey from content to commerce. We’re enabling our partners to leverage these capabilities through content syndication, richer ad formats and sponsored products. We’ve done incredible work with our partners this year and have created stronger experiences because of our teamwork and deep focus on the end-user. 

None of this would be possible without the incredible teams at Verizon Media. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside hardworking, driven, and bright colleagues who create innovative products, best-in-class experiences and comprehensive solutions for our customers who have come to expect it. While this work ethic is always admirable, it is even more so during the holiday season when our teams work around the clock to make sure we consistently deliver the best possible experience.

I hope the upcoming holiday season brings a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. It certainly does for me -- I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve ~900M people and our partners, and I’m grateful for our Builders who make it happen.   

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving, a long list of things to be grateful for, and a meaningful holiday season.

I am thankful to Yahoo for the opportunity to learn a lot while building the search engine many years ago. Serving almost half the Internet population sure got my brain flooded with serotonin and dopamine everyday back in 2004.
