Feeling Swamped? Let’s Tackle What’s Really Behind the Overwhelm

Hey incredible leaders,?

Busy? Too busy? Endless lists with competing priorities???

There are days it feels like you’re handling it all, and other days, it’s complete overwhelm. With constant demands, tight deadlines, and high expectations—both at work and at home—pushing yourself beyond your energy limits leaves you running on empty, making the next day even tougher!?

When you're in the thick of it, solutions can seem impossible. But here’s something to consider: what if understanding some common behaviours could help you feel less stuck—without adding even more to your plate??

Let’s explore three common behaviours that may be driving your stress. Which of these sounds familiar??

1. The Rescuer Syndrome?

Are you always the one stepping in to fix things? The Rescuer loves to take charge, but constantly swooping in creates dependency on you, leaving you overloaded and your team underdeveloped.??

Something to think about: Am I stepping in because it’s truly necessary, or because it feels easier than letting my team figure it out? What do you think would happen if you stepped back??

2. The Perfectionist Trap?

“If I want it done right, I’ll do it myself.” Sound familiar? Perfectionists tend to micromanage and overwork because letting go feels risky. But in the end, it leads to burnout—and stifles growth for everyone.?

Ponder this: Is my pursuit of perfection stopping me from trusting my team and empowering them to take ownership? What do I fear might happen if I let go??

3. The Maverick Mindset?

This one’s for the independent spirits—the ones who feel boxed in by structure and routines. While flexibility can be a strength, too much “going it alone” often leads to chaos, inefficiency, and, yes, more overwhelm.?

Challenge yourself: Am I resisting structure because I fear it limits my creativity, or could it actually give me more freedom to focus on what really matters? What would happen to my freedom if I were to plan more??

Ready to make a change??

While you’re taking a moment for yourself and your growth, ask yourself: is it more uncomfortable for me to step back, let go, or plan more, than it is to carry on as I am, letting the overwhelm keep building??

What’s one small thing you could try today that doesn’t add to your to-do list or require a total schedule overhaul? Something that might feel uncomfortable, but could stretch you just enough to start shifting things??

If you're ready to try new strategies, I’m hosting a lunchtime webinar series, 40 mins packed with fresh perspectives on achieving more without sacrificing your well-being:?
