Did you ever think about having a clarity weekend or week? Instead of daily reflections, meditations and journaling, you dedicate a few days to self-reflection and, as the name implies, clarity. Earlier this month, I needed a clarity weekend and when I got in the flow, I ended up extending this to a clarity week. Honestly, it was the best decision and I will do this a few times a year. I want to share with you how I approached it and some digital nomad takeaways in this week’s newsletter.
The digital nomad lifestyle is an ongoing journey of self-development. If you lack curiosity, it may not be for you. This lifestyle requires ongoing curiosity to be successful.
On Instagram and even here on Linkedin, the digital nomad lifestyle looks fun, sexy and pretty epic. Don’t get me wrong, that is all true, but there is another side that is not so often talked about. Those are the rough challenges and life lessons that aren’t necessarily fun and sexy.
But what happens when you get a big wave of challenges, followed by more waves and you feel stuck?
???? That happens to all of us and from experience, I can tell you that this isn’t easy.
In 2022 I was working in a remote-first company with an office mindset. It wasn’t a great experience and it got so bad that I started to dislike digital marketing. I was fed up with the work and all tasks so I quit and focused on switching careers.
In the meantime, I focused on Digital Nomads Daily, but soon it started to feel like a job. When I applied for remote jobs, I mostly got ghosted or dealt with rejection after rejection. All not sexy stuff.
I kept smiling and stayed positive simply because that is part of my personality, but there was this underlying feeling of being stuck. Then, my parents visited me in Rio de Janeiro and we had a blast BUT...
It was tough too because I felt so confused. I couldn’t identify myself so strongly with their culture and habits anymore and it created a weird feeling of detachment. I also see it as a positive thing because to me, it means that I have grown apart from some habits and limiting beliefs.
I know that many digital nomads go through this and I want to open up about this and not only discuss it behind closed doors.
So after they left, I needed some time alone and moved to one of my favorite nomad hubs in Brazil, Florianopolis without my partner and nomad cat.
What started as a reflection weekend turned into a full week of reflecting. It was needed because a lot of those underlying feelings came to the surface.
I chose for this to happen because I felt valuable and was ready to receive, so I went for an uncomfortable ride and asked myself 7 questions:
1?? What is really going on?
2?? Why am I so worried or anxious about this?
3?? Where do I feel this emotion pop up in my body?
4?? What do I need to nurture myself?
5?? Which actions can I take to nurture myself?
6?? How am I feeling after nurturing myself?
7?? What did I learn from this journey so far?
Thanks to these questions and days of journalling, brainstorming, crying, dancing and going deep unapologetically, I was able to regain my clarity about myself and how my life needs to look and feel like.
I love everyday journaling and tuning in with myself, but sometimes you just really need to go all the way and one day isn’t enough.

A gentle reminder I want to share with you:
Growth doesn’t exist without learning so while you are living life, you want to keep track of your learnings too. Especially during a clarity weekend, capturing your learnings can superpower you.
