Feeling Stressed Yet?

If there’s one thing everyone can agree on at this wonderful time of year it’s that we all need more time! The details and endless to-do lists that come with the holiday season can lead to stress and the pitfalls of being overwhelmed. We wind up wasting time because we don’t even know where to start or what to do next.
If there’s one tip I can give you to help this holiday season along it’s this: minimize distractions and stick to your plan. Schedule a little time at the end of each day when you can unwind, but until that time comes, you must remain focused to get it all done! Write down your plan and keep it with you all day. Put it in your smartphone and each time you finish one task the first thing you should do is see what’s next on your list. When we must attend to details and complete many tasks in a day we tend to start feeling burned out and more prone to distractions, especially social media.
Social media and the constantly available inflow of information from internet news and media sources makes trying to stay focused more difficult than ever before, especially when we’re overwhelmed and procrastinating the next thing on our list. If you are not mindful and purposeful about the way you plan, prioritize, and execute your day, you can find yourself leaving work each day not only without a feeling of accomplishment, but also further behind on your “have-to” list. No one can afford that extra anxiety during the holidays.
This is a clip from my interview on Fox News Channel 32 in Chicago discussing this topic and how to use technology to manage technology, limit distractions, and stay focused.
I hope you can remain in control and take charge of your holiday preparations so you can have a truly peaceful holiday season!

7 年Love the comment about using your smartphone, Steve, to help stay on track. I have used that as my goal/must do list for many years. Feels great when I cross off my goals as they are accomplished. One of my pet peeves at the office is that meetings are scheduled to last one hour. Most meetings run twice as long as is necessary to accomplish anything. What are your suggestions for cutting back on meetings at the workplace?
