FEELING GROOVEY

FEELING GROOVEY

#AlphaDawg is On The Point

Simon and Garfunkel once sang... "I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep...ba da da dah, Feelin' Groovey"

We, that's sort of how I feel today. Things are swirling around in the Social Media World of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Just the very nature of the 'Virtual Neighborhood" creates a lot of intrigue, speculation and high-emotion drama.

There are so many "Keyboard Warriors" roaming the streets and back alleys of our vast neighborhood here that sometimes its a bit overwhelming sorting out who's who, and who's real, and who's really just a skillfully crafted illusion. So many fakes, frauds, con artists, misbehaving and acting like they would never do face to face in a real-world situation.

Personally, I have more than 150,000 friends, followers, and contacts on these major social media channels. I interact for them every day. I review their pages and learn about them and their families. The secret is to 'Really Care' about them. Even though I have never physically met so many of these people; I genuinely consider so many of them to be my closest real-world friends. Looking forward to the day we meet and say a real-world hello.

There is a rumor that I have several private secret (not so secret?) Groups on Facebook with more than 20,000 members total. I am here to tell you, I have no idea what those rumormongers are talking about. That is just an Urban Legend.

But, if I ever did have such groups, I would say they're loyal friends and they're responsive, and they're relevant people with common goals and interests. So many groups on Social Media are NOT relevant, and more like a dysfunctional family of strangers. If I ever did have such described groups they would have harmony and they'd be cohesive. Of course, that's just a speculation what it would be like if something like that did exist.

When I wrote my only book, 'The Prosperity Equation' 20 years ago, there is a quote by me taken from the book... "The Most Powerful People on Earth are those People that Influence the Most Other People. Relationships are Power, Money is Just Measurement."

Of course, I wrote that 20 years ago before Social Media became a real neighborhood. Whatever level of success I've achieved through the years is a result of the relationships I've made and kept. Another key principle from my writings was "Gather People". I used the example of how many people in your life drifted out of your life and evaporated? You should have kept them.

"People"... people who are your friends and allies in the war zones and the minefields of Social Media... "People" are your wall and protection. Many times my Friends have rallied around me and villains skulked away back into the dark places where they live. The greatest philosopher of the 20th century, Mr. Ringo Starr, once said... "I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends."

I have a saying I took from the movie and added to it. This saying has been tweeted and retweeted now more than 1000 times in recent weeks by numerous people. It appears on every email and correspondence I send out.

It says... "Do Something Good Today for Someone Who Can Do Nothing for You and try not to get caught doing it. "PAY IT FORWARD"...do something good for someone else with no expectation of reward."

I genuinely try to Live that. My wife says I am too easy on people that have mistreated me. Well, I would rather help people than rain down on them. You never see my boasting of things I've done to help specific people in specific situations. I'll never Name the charities that Deb and I participate in, or specifically name the good things we've done for others. I'll just say there's a lot we do with no expectation of reward. Helping people when they're down, when there's nothing they can do for you, has come back many times as a great thing when skeptics detractors, and downright enemies became friends.

We have chosen to live in a world that has regressed back to the "Wild West." On Social Media 'anything goes', and often times; there's a shoot out in the streets of Facebook. Many of us have seen "Twitter Bombs" raining down on those that really don't deserve it. Sometimes they do deserve it, but Social Media magnifies the damage to the point of permanent damage overkill.

Regardless, the great and good things outnumber the traps and hazards of roaming these streets. So many good and great people and sharing of knowledge and true camaraderie here. Communicating with people with like minds and sharing ideas and our lives and families, right down to pictures of what we eat.

My message is to rise above the drama of Social Media and develop relationships that are as real as walking across your yard and knocking on your real-world's neighbor's door to visit. Be sure you're giving help as much as your asking for help.

I Love Us! AND I genuinely Thank You for your friendship. #AlphaDawg
