feeling funky

feeling funky

Dear You,

Have you ever woken up feeling...off? Like, nothing's necessarily wrong, but everything feels meh. That's what I call "the funk." We've all been there. As ordinary day people and as professionals, it can be tough to shake off that feeling and stay motivated.

The Funk is Real.

The funk can creep in when:

  • - You're overwhelmed with tasks
  • - You're facing a creative block
  • - You're dealing with self-doubt
  • - You're feeling burnt out

So, how do you snap out of it? How do you get your A game feeling into position
5 Steps to Snap Out of the Funk

1. Take a break: Step away from your desk and do something you else even for the tiny little nano second that you can spare. A brief mental reset can work wonders. Grab a coffee, take a breath, or stare at something beautiful outside your window.

2. Move your body: Shake, jump, shake again, wiggle your toes, wiggle your hands, wiggle your whole body -- it releases endorphins, and these endorphins go head-to-head to fight funk.

Shake it off—literally! Wiggle your fingers, jump, stretch, or do a quick dance. It releases endorphins, the natural mood boosters that go head-to-head with that funky feeling.

3. Connect with Others: Sometimes, a quick chat with a friend, colleague, or mentor can put things back in perspective. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

4. Prioritize Self-Care: Sleep, meditation, journaling—whatever helps you recharge, make it a priority. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Seriously, I can't stress this enough. You deserve that time for yourself. Please really do it.

5. Reframe Your Mindset: Focus on the positive, even if it’s small. Maybe you didn’t get everything done today, but you made progress, and that’s something. Honestly, you won't gain much from thinking about how bad you did today, if anything, it'll make you feel worse only.

The Funk Isn’t Your Enemy

Here’s the truth: feeling off, or experiencing "the funk," isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s part of being human, and sometimes, it’s the pressure that eventually creates diamonds. By acknowledging and even embracing it, you:

Build resilience: You learn how to bounce back.

Develop coping mechanisms: You get better at handling stress.

Foster creativity: A break from routine can lead to new ideas.

Strengthen relationships: You realize it’s okay to lean on others.

You're Not Alone

Next time the funk hits, remember this: You are not alone. We all go through it. You’re human, and that means you’re capable of overcoming. The funk doesn’t stand a chance against your resilience, creativity, and strength.

Together, we push beyond horizons—funk and all.

Cheers to a fulfilling life. See you next time -- Beyond Horizons.

lots of love
