Feeling down? Don't give up!

One of the hardest things to do is to keep going at something important when you’re not seeing any results. Whether you’re starting a business, trying to make more sales, or even just trying to get in better shape.

When you’re putting in the effort and not seeing the results you expect, or want, it can be downright depressing.

Unfortunately it can lead to self-doubt, exhaustion, burnout and a downward spiral.

To have any success at difficult longer-term projects, it helps to have the right mindset.

When I started putting out this newsletter and posting on LinkedIn a couple years ago, it took five months before I had any inquiries. Then, in one week, I got three inquiries and accepted two clients.

Here’s three things I learned about the process that I hope can help you if you’re working at something and aren’t seeing the results you want.

  1. Pause for an hour or two, close your door, and just think about your WHY. Why you started and why it’s important.
  2. Celebrate the wins along the way, no matter how small. The act of celebrating anything will pick you up.
  3. Try to be patient. I’m not suggesting staying on a hopeless path. But nothing worthwhile comes easy.

Thomas Edison said,

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

He would know!

So, here’s your Action Item and Mission, should you decide to accept it:

Feeling a little down because things aren’t progressing the way you’d hoped?

Consider my three suggestions then reevaluate, regroup, refine the process, and keep going. It’s never over until YOU say it’s over.

Please share this if you think others would benefit from being a step closer to being the best version of themselves. Remember, one hand washes the other, and together they get clean. Thank you for watching. Have a really rewarding week and I’ll see you next time.

Sometimes it's good just like you mentioned, disconnect and be in the present. When I lived in South East Asia I met a Buddhist monk that told me about "letting go" and it's not about trying to throw problems away or hiding negativity emotions, it's about not clinging to it too hard, easing the tension around it, let it still be there but not making you feel exhausted. EQ Emotional Intelligence is a good thing to look into, self awareness and self management, it's actually from the Buddhist teaching and I think Daniel Goleman the author of emotional intelligence was in Asia and studied Buddhism. Great article Louie Bernstein on an important thing in life that we all can handle if we just give ourselves some time now and then ????
