Feeling Defeated – with Business or Life?

How’s your Wednesday going?
Did you roll out of bed and wonder what the heck you’re doing with your life? I’ve honestly had that thought before – numerous times, actually.
Are you overweight and know you need to lose weight – but lack any sort of desire to do anything about it? Who the heck wants to work out 5 hours a day and eat salads and berries, right? Yet your darn spouse (and doctor) are on your butt to lose 20 lbs (okay, 30 lbs). You start to wonder if diabetes is really that bad, and you tell everyone that your high blood pressure medicine is really doing its job.
Do you hate your career? You wake up at the crack of dawn every single day wondering how you’re going to get through the day. You hate your boss, hate your coworkers (except for that one co-worker who hates her job too), and most importantly, you don’t know why they even keep you around. I mean, is your position even that valuable?
Or, are you the person who works their butt off and gets zero recognition – zilch. Day in and day out you go into work with a winning smile, absolutely killing it – yet you seem to fly under the radar when it comes to recognition or promotion time.
Do you struggle with your family or friends? You and your spouse barely talk, if you do, it’s mostly about the kids, the bills, or your lack of energy. You haven’t taken a true vacation in months (ok, years), you haven’t been on a date with your spouse for months (ok, years for this one too), and you crave more passion, intimacy and love – but my gosh, that’s exhausting, right! And worse yet, what if your spouse doesn’t reciprocate? Why go to all the effort, for nothing in return?
Do you struggle as a business owner or entrepreneur? You have huge dreams, ambitions, and desires – yet have no idea how to truly make it all come together. In all honesty, your business is running you – ragged. Your drive is impeccable, but putting pen to paper to truly grow the business to work like a well-oiled machine is beyond your scope of expertise. You’ve got managers doing their jobs, but your vision is MUCH bigger than where you’re at now. You sit at your desk everyday thinking “how the heck do all these other business owners do it? I deserve to be a darn millionaire too.”
Okay, so your Wednesday may be off to a rocky start. Heck, your week or even your year may be off to a rocky start.
But here’s the thing – it CAN get better. It WILL get better.
I’m by no means a visionary, but I’ve done a lot of introspective work over the course of my 36 years. And what I’ve found: Life truly is what you make of it. It takes work, it takes effort, it takes a mindset fixed on growth.
I’ve noted before that having clarity and focus is so important to achieve goals, regardless of what those goals may be. However, I’ve learned that sometimes appreciation and gratitude is all a person needs when they are in a phase where they lack clarity and focus.
Enjoying the “ride” and this experience we call life, is far too often taken for granted.
If you’re spending your time looking at the pitfalls or lemons in life, possibly today is your day to start looking at the opportunities instead. Here’s how:
Stop living in your head.
The reality you’ve created in that mind of yours – is actually only YOUR sense of reality.
If you want to make changes in your life – make the darn changes – but be authentic, truthful and put in the thought to truly making changes that are beneficial to your life, and your family’s life.
Start shifting your mindset by QUESTIONING EVERYTHING. Ask yourself why you do things you don’t want to do. Ask yourself what is not serving you. Question every excuse (or story) that you tell yourself.
I believe it was Bob Proctor who said “Finances, Relationships and Weight (health) are all linked by one common denominator – MINDSET. It’s absolutely true!
Consider this your mid-week pep-talk! Now go make it a great Wednesday!

8 年We can be the change we wish to see! Great article! I remember one time in my life when I struggled with depression, eating the wrong foods, and was following a lot of self destructive behaviors. I learned that loving myself and approving myself was the foundation to a better life. Finding time to take care of myself made everything else in life better.
