Feeling Calm & Peaceful Every Day: Why it's Contagious

Feeling Calm & Peaceful Every Day: Why it's Contagious

Every day I’m reminded of everything that’s going wrong in the world.

The conflict in Israel is ongoing.

Ukraine has just passed the two year anniversary of being occupied.

Inflation is at a record high.

Climate change is always looming with the next disaster.

Political conflict seems more divisive than ever.

Anxiety and mental health diagnoses in children is at its highest levels.

The United States and Canada are preparing for high-stakes federal elections this year.

Not to mention the millions of people who do not have the basic necessities of water, food, and shelter on a daily basis.

(I’m sure I’m missing some things on this list. Maybe I should turn on the news and they can remind me of everything else to be worried about ??)

I hold one-on-one conversations with multiple people each week. It’s how I make connections with my network and grow my business.

Everyone that I talk to expresses some concern with our current circumstances and they want to help change the world in some way but they often feel overwhelmed in how and where to start.

For me, I often feel that I’m just one person. How could I possibly help international war, federal government issues, global climate change, and anxiety for children around the world?

And then I remember to pause.

To slow down with the busy-ness of life and allow my mind to quiet down.

Through a quiet mind I hear the answer:

We help change the world by changing ourselves.

When I show up leading from a place of peace and calm, I transform my own life.

My mind quiets down, then my anxiety and worry fades away.

Whatever difficulties I’m facing in my life now look manageable.

The larger global issues are still present. But I can see one action step I can take to help make a difference.

And the best part is:

Peace and Calm is contagious.

As we fill ourselves up feeling peaceful every day, we share that with our children, our spouse, our co-workers, and anyone else we encounter.

Not only do we feel better but we also help everyone around us feel better too.

We change the words we speak, the feeling we share with others, and the actions that we take.

And then it grows.

This is how we change the world.

By being a transmitter of peace and calm, rather than the receiver of stress, intensity, and overwhelm.

(Want to learn more about being a transmitter rather than a receiver? Click here to read one of my previous articles)

It starts at the individual level.

And as our ripple effect grows, we will help more and more people quiet down, live from peace and calm, and clearly see how to take a right action next step towards a better world.

It starts with you.

What are you going to do today to invite more peace and calm into your life?

Know that you’re not just doing it for you, you’re doing it for everyone else you love, too.

P.S. My interview is now posted with the Business Matters Kelowna Now podcast. There is an online article, a Spotify podcast and YouTube video. In this 28 minute interview I share my story of why I do the work that I do. I also share some tools for how to calm yourself down when you are triggered or feeling stressed. P.P.S. I am in process of putting together an Adventure VIP Coaching Experience. Once a year and for one person only, I will be hosting a 1:1 coaching experience where we will go hiking and mountain biking in Squamish, Revelstoke, and Kelowna, BC to all of my favourite locations. We can omit mountain biking if hiking is your preference. It will take place over a 6 month period and there will be coaching calls in between. I was inspired to create this experience after meeting one of my clients in Utah and hiking Angel’s Landing together in Zion’s National Park. I want to share my love of a coaching and adventure in Beautiful BC. It is for one person per year and is by application only. If you are interested in applying, send me a message on LinkedIn and say “Adventure Coaching”.

P.P.P.S. If you would like to meet on Zoom sometime for a casual networking conversation and here more about the coaching work I do with others, send me a message here on LinkedIn and say "Zoom Coffee Chat"
