Let us create your unique story in Malta
Volunteering has been shown to benefit those involved as well as the communities it helps.? Some of the benefits include better physical and mental health and wellbeing; increased confidence; development of new skills and valuable work experience; a sense of connection to others in the community and so on.?
When creating engaging CSR events for groups and incentives, it is vital to uphold the corporate philosophies and ethos of the actual client organisation, develop an activity that appeals to the participants, and one which benefits the local community.
There are more and more requests for such activities, and one recent request received by the team at Rigo Malta DMC was from a international school wishing to give students a genuine ‘Malta Experience’ whilst supporting their IB curriculum. The three areas to be considered were:
????????????? Creativity
????????????? Physical Activity
????????????? Community Engagement
?Brainstorming Ideas
The team at Rigo Malta DMC had to come up with something that would appeal to the youngsters, as well as be safe enough for them to engage in, so the idea to support local farmers with a tree planting exercise was developed.? Working alongside the local farmers, the students learned about:?
?
In this instance, the trees planted were Cypress trees, a species native to the eastern Mediterranean region, which serve as a wind break to protect the olive trees, and of course provide shelter for the wide range of wild life, birds, and fauna!?

The additional benefits the group of students enjoyed included:
????????????? Learning about Maltese people, culture, and traditions
????????????? Practising their English conversation
????????????? Engaging in collaborative activities, learning new skills and with physical exercise as a bonus!
?Benefits of Volunteering
Studies consistently highlight the mental health benefits of volunteering, team work, and engaging in productive physical exercise. Research reveals reduced stress, increased happiness, and a greater sense of purpose - a positive impact on well-being and “win-win” result reinforces the significance of giving back.? The students not only learnt about the country and its people, but also about agriculture, working with native species, the impact of maintaining a healthy environment, practiced their English AND had fun whilst learning!
We can guarantee they all slept well that night, and left Malta with a renewed understanding of not only the local culture, but the benefits of teamwork and the importance of protecting and managing our natural environment.
