CBD Isn't The Only Plant Trending

Soulgood, Inc., a Texas-based public benefits corporation, is partnering with DoorDash, GrubHub and Postmates to launch two new virtual vegan restaurants in Texas this month.

The virtual restaurant concept, called SoulgoodVR, will leverage mobile app technology to integrate delivery services and AI to serve customers across Dallas/Fort Worth in partnership with two innovative commercial kitchens, Revolving Kitchen and Catering Grounds.

Cynthia Nevels, amateur chef and former Salesforce.com consultant, launched Soulgood in 2014 and was the first African-American woman-owned vegan food truck owner in North Texas. In 2018, her food truck was awarded best food truck in Dallas by the Dallas Observer and Top 25 black-owned food trucks in the U.S.

The plan to expand regionally has generated market buzz following her recent catering gig for global phenomenon, Billie Eilish, as well as the successful Beyond Meat IPO, and recent news of Ellen DeGeneres' investment in California's vegan creamery, Miyoko's.

Chef Cynthia wants to make American vegan food, with global influences, accessible on a larger scale in Texas. Nevels formed the B-Corporation and designed a concept that would allow her to scale, serve more people in communities often left without access to healthy plant-based food options, and continue to give back through plant-based health education and outreach through a partnership with Dallas ISD and the City of Dallas.

“I want to use technology, data and good common sense cooking to help people eat well and feel good. I have had the privilege of traveling to Cuba, Singapore, London and cities across the United States to try new vegan restaurants, vegan foods and products to get a taste of the land, collect data and understand demand. My travel gives me inspiration to figure out how I can create healthy plant-based foods my customers will appreciate and enjoy that doesn’t taste like cardboard or leave them with regret.”

The new virtual restaurant concept called, SoulgoodVR, includes a new 100% vegan delivery menu that heralds a few of its savory food truck favorites such as the Triple D Beyond Burger, vegan tamales, vegan breakfast biscuits and a new vegan Keto lineup for those looking for a healthier way to lose weight in 2020.

"Keto was all the rage in 2019 and people touted weight loss on Instagram, but I shudder to think of the damage done to their hearts and arteries. I believe there is a safer and healthier way to manage weight using vegan Keto recipes," says Nevels.

Soulgood’s mission to save the planet, people and animals one plate at a time remains the same and with the launch of the virtual concept will use innovative technology and artificial intelligence to serve more people, save more animals and continue to positively impact the environment.

For the first time, PETA just announced Dallas is one of the top 10 vegan friendly cities in the U.S.

“I launched Soulgood in 2014 when people thought I was crazy. I wasn’t crazy. I was just a mom wanting to help her son live a better quality of life while he was awaiting his organ transplant. The changes I see in this market are positive and have had a significant impact on climate change, reduction of GHGE, reduction of animal cruelty and soon we hope to be able to measure a positive impact on the health of North Texans actively choosing to eat less meat and more plant-based foods, says Nevels”

Soulgood will soon open to serve breakfast 8:00-10:00 a.m., lunch 11:00-2:00 p.m. and dinner 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday - Friday starting in December on the DoorDash, GrubHub and Postmates delivery mobile apps. www.eatsoulgood.com/vegandelivery

About Soulgood Food Truck

Soulgood is known for its healthy and mission-driven vegan cuisine. Soulgood offers plant-based twists on classic fast food, including tacos, burgers, pancakes, and, in true Dallas-style, a Cowboy Bowl with vegan southwest chili and sour cream — all popular with meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The plant-based mobile restaurant has been covered by the Dallas Observer, NBCDFW, and D Magazine. Soulgood was launched by Cynthia Nevels to honor her youngest son, Tyler, who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis. Though delicious food underpins the success of her truck and catering company, Nevels keeps its mission at the heart of the business. Eating with Soulgood is good for the soul because every dollar you spend with us, 5% is donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other local public charities through our Soulgood Cares initiative.
