Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

We are all a little (or a lot) frightened of public speaking...

If you get the chance you really should try and step up to the mark as it can really raise both the profile and credibility of you and your business.

If you are not sure about that just check out the 'unsolicited' online feedback I got after speaking at the inaugural event of the Knowledge Network hosted by Ross and Damian from Fleet Financial last week...

Granted, It was a very generous audience but is always nice to get great reviews! :-)

I enjoy speaking these days Martin as I'm less bad at it (lol - I used to be just awful). I mainly do it in case what I have to say might help others but you're right that it's also good for getting noticed, improving your profile & even for winning work. I personally know someone who got offered a high profile central government contract off the back of a single speaking engagement.

Wow! I cannot believe that Mary you have always stuck me as a professional, credible and confident public speaker... Thanks for sharing this as it helps to know that even the very best have to start somewhere and we all feel a bit fearful at times in business!

Couldn't agree more Martin. I used to completely avoid public speaking because it terrified me & also because I used to work alongside someone who really loved to get up & speak & I used that as an opportunity to hide. Eventually a speaking engagement was offered that I just couldn't refuse. It was awful & I hated every minute of it but that was 6 years ago & it's true that with practice you do improve & the fear recedes.
