Feedback I Reject

Feedback I Reject

“Your content is not for VPs of Sales”, someone told me last week. Because (and I quote) “you say the techniques you share are straight-forward and simple”.

?

And then they laughed. In a mean way.

?

It took me a second to respond. When I got hold of my voice, I asked “So, are you looking for complicated, tedious and difficult techniques?”

?

And then I laughed. In a mean way.

?

What in the actual [beep]?

Are you joking?

?

Is straight-forward, simple and practical too basic when you’re on VP or Director level??

?

Why would you run through mud when you can stroll around it?

?

From me - as a coach, and an entrepreneur, and a person - you WILL NOT get:

?

? Tedious, difficult techniques that make your career advancement even harder.

? Words you need to Google.

? Images of me in a corporate suit posing with my chin on my hands. (can we please ban those?)

?

Nope. You’ll get:

?

? Straight-forward, practical and SIMPLE techniques that’ll get you results.

? Communication that’s honest and humble. Potentially with a swear word or two. Or three if it’s a good day.

? Images like these ??

You’ll get someone who has your absolute best interest at heart.?

?

So, if you’re looking for fun, different, uplifting career advancement insights, then stick around.

?

Have the best week,

Jeanette ??

?

ps. this cup was in the Airbnb we booked for a weekend in Hamburg. I did consider taking (read stealing) it.?

?

I didn’t. But I really, really, really wanted to.

?

pps. A few weeks ago, I had a call with a Sales Director. At the end he said that he didn’t expect the conversation to be so positive and uplifting. My heart went out to him because this means coaching sessions with his boss are not.

This reminds me a quote of Winston Churchill in a letter saying “I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.” Simplicity is the ultimate form of elegance. Keep going Jeanette!

Totally agree, it is usually the basics that one must master through simple techniques; this will take you the farthest.

The sign of next level thinking IS the ability to explain things simply .... and don't say Einstein didn't know what he was talking about!!!
