Feedback - Breakfast of Champions

As my mentor, David Shephard , put it - "Everyone can get from the right starting point to the right destination. It takes a true champion to reach it even when they start off on the wrong foot."

And, in our increasingly volatile and uncertain world, this ability is no longer a mere luxury, it's become quintessential. So how do you navigate the treacherous waters of a shifting global landscape - in the economy, society, politics and the environment itself - without either map, or compass?

How do you keep learning, growing, improving, constantly outpacing your competition? How do you overcome simply hoarding information, and instead build more ?????????????????? ????????????, which deliver ???????????????? ???????????????

The answer is ?????????????????? ????????????????. And that differs resolutely from how people usually think about it, whether they're receiving or delivering it at work: as mere criticism.

Then, ask yourself:

  1. What have I already done well? (reinforces the actions which are already adapted to your desired outcome)
  2. What can I do next time that's ???????? ????????????, and how? (focuses you on a positive goal, gives you a concrete direction to shift how you act)
  3. ??????????????, what have I done well? (leaves you in a positive emotional mood; because memory is state-dependent, it ensures you'll more readily recall and apply the learnings).
