Feed Me Poetry ...
I cannot believe it is a whole month since my last article. Where have I been for that month? Where did that month go? It was only Christmas yesterday wasn't it? And Easter is only a month or so away! Time - it waits for nobody.
I finally got to speak to a Literary Agent a month or so ago. I found her quite by chance and she is based just a mile or two away from where I live so I thought, why not? She was lovely - but alas - as seems to be the common theme, she is not currently taking new clients on. She was interested in the idea of a Guide Book about running a Creative Writing group for children (a project currently on the very back burner I am afraid) and made one or two helpful suggestions. Thank GOD she didn't say "I suggest you try the Writers and Artists Year Book" - which has been a recurring and infuriating response I've had from practically every agent I have ever contacted (like - where did they think I gor their details in the first place?), since time immemorial. She did suggest a couple of publishers who might consider such a project but nobody has expressed the slightest interest in it so I have just put it aside till next Millennium (along with 10 million other words I have written) and decided to concentrate on my poetry for the remainder of 2021. Found a wonderful company called Candlestick Press who publish truly beautiful little pamphlets exactly like those I'd love to publish. Was so inspired by their website and range of books that I ordered six straight away which arrived in a matter of days. Well - why not? I need to do my market research, don't I!
So this year's theme is POETRY in all its types and forms. I have such a huge backlog of these and some are unbelievably good - so good I cannot for the life of me - believe I wrote them in the first place! So keep an eye on LinkedIn. I may yet publish some samples on here. Whatever your theme for 2021 is, good luck. And don't EVER give up!
