Fedora 41

On October 29th, 2024, the latest Fedora Linux distribution was released. Fedora 41 offers a wide range of updates enhancing system performance, security, and overall user experience. Linux Torvalds, creator of Linux, had expressed his preference for Fedora. The exciting new features and improvements in Fedora 41

?1.?????? GNOME 47 introduces a few new features including

• A new terminal app called Ptyxis.
• Accent colours.
• A new default wallpaper.
• Improved small screen support.

2.?????? DNF 5

Fedora is a new major release of the command-line package management tool DNF with faster, smaller and requires fewer supporting packages.

3.?????? NVIDIA Driver Support

Fedora 41 improved support for NVIDIA drivers on systems with Secure Boot. Nvidia has had a rocky relationship with Linux over the years. Nvidia’s reluctance to open source their drives have led to compatibility issues and performance challenges.

Prior to deploying Fedora 41 directly on a laptop or desktop computer, testing can be done on a virtual machine. As VMware Workstation Pro is now available for free for personal use, a Fedora 41 VM was created quickly. First impression of Fedora 41 lies its snappy and easy to install installation guide. As a personal preference, I install Extension Manager and setup "Blur my shell" and "Dash to panel." The installation of additional software is easily done for Gimp, VLC, and more.
