FedEx makes e-commerce possible
I have been in this industry for more than 40 years and have seen a lot of change. None of it compares to the significant changes – and growth – that come with e-commerce. Online shopping is a primary factor in the dramatic and consistent increase in FedEx volume over the past 10 years.
Today, we announced that FedEx Ground will operate six days a week year-round throughout its U.S. network to address the growing demand for e-commerce and residential deliveries. This decision was not made overnight. In fact, you may be aware that we have been operating six and seven days a week during the holidays for several years. We anticipated that e-commerce would shift demand, and we started our transformation almost 15 years ago by investing in automated facilities and real-time technology innovations to disrupt the ground industry. Because of those early and ongoing investments, we now have a highly flexible and responsive network, which has enabled us to seamlessly handle the e-commerce boom that we anticipated so many years ago.
These investments in innovations such as automation, robotics, sortation and delivery technologies have enhanced the agility of the global FedEx network, and we are ready to deliver another record holiday season. FedEx expects that the four Mondays in December will be among the busiest days in company history! To help with the influx, we will hire approximately 55,000 additional team members this holiday season…and the majority of those employees will have the opportunity to stay with FedEx after the holidays.
This is an exciting time for FedEx Ground! E-commerce is here to stay and will undoubtedly continue to change shopping and shipping around the world. At FedEx Ground, we are proud to be an innovative engine making it all possible.

Henry, great to hear the growth and opportunities. As your former vendor, FedEx treated us as family and expect the same with your seasonal hires to new hires.?
Good at helping people
6 年FedEx Ground and Ups, were gifted by Congress at the expense of the USPS, I'm getting screwed by the whole mess, the P.O. closes at 11 am and FedEx cant find my house, unless it's to get stuck in my yard with someone else's packages, UPS tries to leave my packages at the P.O. I'm using USPS more all the time, I know UPS is Union, I may be wrong but with the Postal service I doubt that all the Rural Carriers and part time Clerks have a Union. It's sad that we wont have a Postal service because of Union busters starting with Reagan, the Republicans have killed it, same with Healthcare. I would like to know what the CEO and all the Golfers Salaries are?
