FED ASKS KEY QUESTIONS AS REVIEWS BEGIN

With the new Government taking office, a new?Education Select Committee has been established, a call for evidence to gather perspectives on the current curriculum and assessment system to inform the future direction of education. Additionally, an expert panel has been appointed to lead reforms aimed at making mainstream schools more inclusive, as part of the government's strategy to address the challenges faced by pupils with special educational needs. We have some?key questions for each of these groups:

  • Who is approaching these issues with a long-term perspective?
  • Who is asking the right questions to ensure solutions are sustainable?
  • What governance model will be implemented to support a long-term, strategic approach?

For the last four years, FED has conducted the most extensive consultation on the education system ever undertaken in England.

Grounded in the belief that education is vital in unlocking a prosperous and secure future, FED’s stakeholders know education is the cornerstone for shaping our society, preparing us for emerging opportunities, and propelling economic and societal advancement in a rapidly evolving world.

If education is the passport to our collective futures, then the education system is the roadmap to get us there.

FED’s consultations have highlighted the need and appetite for a comprehensive, consistent, and cohesive approach to education planning in England.

FED’s consultations clearly show the need for a well defined approach to all stages of education that can steer learners of all ages towards a sustainable, equitable, and inclusive future.

This requires a long-term strategy – supported by robust governance, strategic foresight, and decisive action from the relevant institutions.

This week we were delighted to host, in partnership with Hays Education, a?free breakfast seminar entitled?‘School in the Community: Community in the School’?with keynote speakers, Frank Norris MBE FCCT ?and Jamila Kossar MBE in Manchester. The event?emphasised a renewed vision where schools actively participate in and contribute meaningfully to the lives of students, families, and the wider community.

Over the coming months we will be hosting some more breakfast seminars and FEDSpace roundtable discussions on the FED Future Projects. Keep watching this space to find out more and reserve your place.
