Kia ora,

For ConCOVE Tūhura the year has started with pace, so it isn’t hard to believe that we’re almost in March. The year has started with further, targeted, consultation on the vocational education system. The focus this round was on work-based learning and there’ll be further consultation on how many Industry Skills Boards will be stood up. Change is, as ever, constant.??

One thing we know for certain, ConCOVE’s funding contract concludes at the end of 2025 meaning we now have 10-months to make a real impact in our sectors. I’m reminded of these wise words from Sir James Henare;??

Kua tawhiti kē tō haerenga mai, kia kore e haere tonu. He nui rawa ō mahi kia kore e mahi tonu.??
You have come too far not to go further. You have done too much not to do more.?

?We are pushing forward with intensity, and with more projects continuing and completing over the course of this year we have much to share! Recently, our Skill Standards good practice guides were released – we will host a webinar on the 1st April to discuss the guides. Please register to attend. We hosted a recent webinar on both Bystander projects and our apprenticeship policy settings work has concluded and been shared with Labour Market Ministers. Also upcoming, our 2024 Annual Report showcasing the work of the past year and including case studies of where ConCOVE’s work is impacting in the wider sector.??

We are determined that our mahi will not be left on a shelf—it must drive meaningful change.?That’s why we are hosting Te Māramatanga ki ngā Tukanga – Insights to Actions, an event that will bring together insights from over 15 key projects and ConCOVE’s 2025 workstreams. This is our opportunity to share the latest research outcomes that must inform the future of vocational education in construction and infrastructure.?

?Alongside this event, we are also running 10 webinars in 2025. We invite you to join us—to listen, to contribute, and to help turn these insights into action. The future of vocational education depends on what we do next.?

And, if you are already using our research to inform change in your organisation or industry, please reach out and let us know!
