February 19th we were honoured to have Kate Munday - Head of Google Toastmasters and her colleague Anita George also from Google UK Speakers Toastmasters presented a great session on Public Speaking! The evening quicked off with an introduction on how they both started off by putting themselves out there to speak!
This was followed by the first exercise of the evening "defining your topic"
Throughout the evening everyone got involved by doing a variety of exercises. The greatest takeaway was that everyone has a favorite topic they can speak on!
Public speaking at events like GHC can help you in your career progression. Following on the meetup we held the webinar "Speaking at AnitaB.org GHC - preparing your proposal" - AnitaB.org London leader Aliaksandra Sankova leading the webinar with myself, Isabel Costa and our new leaders David Pell and Eva Wruszczak on-hand to assist with the Q&A session.
Grace Hopper Celebration is the world's largest gathering of women technologists. It is produced by AnitaB.org and presented in partnership with ACM. GHC 20 will be Sep. 29—Oct. 2 in Orlando, FL.

GHC volunteers contribute their time, skills, and expertise by serving on various committees in the months leading up to GHC and providing on-the-ground support during the Celebration.
It's a great opportunity to be a part of the largest gathering of technical women and some men too ;-)!
