“I Was Determined to Rise” – Jackline’s journey to Economic Independence

Jackline, a mother-of-two in Kenya, never thought she'd own a thriving business. Forced to leave school after primary, she faced limited options — until she found an alternative path.

Now, she’s not only providing for her children, but shaping a future she once thought impossible.

Given the right skills and opportunities, young Africans are proving what they can achieve. Across multiple cohorts of Educate!’s livelihood bootcamps in Kenya ?and Uganda, youth are seeing impact:

  • Incomes increasing by 50 to 150% 3-6 months after participating
  • 25% increase in business ownership, with many launching their first ventures
  • Jackline is one of three women featured in 'Taking the Alternative Path', a short film by The Agency Fund in collaboration with Educate! Watch her story here.
