2024 marks 100 years of the Film and TV Charity! We're celebrating with 12 months of activity, from events to campaigns, and we want you to get involved. If you do one thing to help us celebrate our birthday, help us spread the word - we're here to support everyone working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema and we need as many people in the industry as possible to know we're there for them. As part of our centenary we’ll also be highlighting incredible stories that showcase the impact of our work, as well as the inspiring ways other individuals and organisations are working to create a happier, healthier, and more inclusive industry. Organisations just like The Kusp, The New Black Film Collective, Liverpool Film Office and Intermedia UK, and friends of the Charity like Ria Hebden, Pierre Godson-Amamoo and others,?whose work to improve equity and inclusion in our industry are incredible to see. Keep an eye our socials over the next 12 months for more inspiring stories and initiatives from across the film, TV, and cinema sector.?

Supporting You Through The Tough Times

With news of redundancies and cuts in budgets across the industry, we know that lots of you will be looking for support. Please remember that our services, from Stop-Gap Grants for immediate financial needs, to six free counselling sessions and free legal advice, are here so you don't have to go through it alone. Ways You Can Fundraise ???

If you're looking for a way to fundraise for the Charity this year, we have some amazing opportunities for you! On 8th June we've got this years Broadcast Fives tournament, which sees people from across the industry battle it out on the football pitch and the netball court - all in aid of the Charity. Tickets go on sale on Friday 8th March, click here for more info! If running is more up your street, then we've got one spot available at the Brighton Marathon in April, and a few more for?The Big Half in September. Money Matters Report

Last month we released our Money Matters report, looking at the financial circumstances of people in the industry after a difficult year for people working behind the scenes - and the results are stark. Moving forward this report will act as an important benchmark, providing robust evidence about how well workers are positioned to support themselves and manage their finances. It will also be used to support the development of our strategy to support people working behind the scenes. To read the report in full, click here.?

What Does The Future Of The Creative Industries Look Like?

The Big Creative UK Summit takes place from 6-8 March 2024 with a three day, part hybrid event. This year, the event takes place at BAFTA for a stimulating in-person conference and networking, followed by two days of digital content with Virtual Co:Labs. The Summit will bring together perspectives on technology, creative investment, and the future of skills, with a stacked schedule of everything from a debate on Artificial Intelligence vs Artist Integrity to creative demonstrations with Sky Arts. ReelTime Media Launches

Launched last month, ReelTime Media is designed to help freelancers work flexibly and to spread the word about job quality in TV and film production. The company is part-way through its networking initiative for HETV job-sharers, and is currently selecting participants for its Return-to-Work Programme for ex-HETV production freelancers. NFTS 2024 and 2025: Open Days?

Applications are now open for all courses starting in September 2024 and January 2025 at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Thrive When Freelance

Tonight at 7pm, our Bullying Adviser, Justine, will be joining a panel of industry experts for 'Thrive When Freelance: Bullying & Harassment – what you need to know'.?With the TV industry remaining one where high profile sexual harassment cases continue to surface, the panel will discuss the power dynamics that enable abuse, and the ways that freelancers are particularly vulnerable. They will also look at what constitutes bad behaviour and harassment, how to report it, and what else needs to be done to make the television workplace safe. To sign up, click here!

BFI Flare

As we near the end of LGBT+ History Month, we're excited to see that the full line-up for this years BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival has been revealed! Showcasing some of the best in Queer cinema, the festival takes place from 13th - 24th March at the BFI Southbank and on BFI Player. On 16th March there's also an industry day, offering filmmakers and industry professionals the chance to connect, share ideas, and be inspired through informative panel discussions and an industry networking event. Blacklisted Conversations: One Love

Hosted by Akua Gyamfi, this new episode from The British Blacklist, features the team from the new film, Bob Marley: One Love. Actors, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Lashana Lynch, Director and Co-Writer, Reinaldo Marcus Green, along with Actress and Cultural Producer, Cherrelle Skeete, Director Ethosheia Hylton and Filmmaker, Monique Needham. They sat down to discuss the power of Bob Marley's legacy, the spiritual journey everyone went on while creating the film, why getting this film right was crucial, and the deep connections the team felt throughout the process.
