Tapping AI’s power to optimize our working world

The promise of generative artificial intelligence to transform the business world has prompted leading-edge companies to reimagine how they work. With the thoughtful and targeted use of AI alongside humans, organizations are shaping innovative approaches that allow their people and?AI to work in tandem — in beneficial and complementary ways — to achieve better, faster business results.??

In January, 美世 Global Transformation Leader? Ravin Jesuthasan, CFA, FRSA , Oliver Wyman Chief Knowledge Officer Ana Kreacic and a panel of global senior business leaders convened at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, to explore AI’s great expectations and unpack what an integrated — human and machine — operating model really looks like.?

The conversation covered various timely, relevant topics — including why we should embrace generative AI, how it will transform workforces through upskilling and reskilling and how to uncover the technology’s potential risks. Read more about it here .

The impact of climate change on human health

?What do the Earth’s gradually rising average temperatures mean for human health? Thanks to a groundbreaking study from Oliver Wyman and the World Economic Forum , we may now have an answer. In our in-depth global accounting of global warming’s health effects,?we project:

·????? As many as 14.5 million additional deaths and $12.5 trillion in economic losses by 2050 from more frequent and severe climate-generated natural disasters.

·????? An additional $1.1 trillion in extra costs to healthcare systems due to climate-induced impacts, creating a significant additional burden on already strained infrastructures and medical and human resources.

By taking this holistic view of the consequences of the planet’s rising temperatures on human health and the global healthcare system, we aim to more fully capture the health consequences of climate change, both in terms of the health outcomes themselves (mortality and healthy lives lost) and in terms of the economic costs to the healthcare system.

While there is still time for the global economy to decisively reduce emissions and enact strategies to safeguard human health from the impacts of climate change, by acknowledging the insufficient readiness of healthcare systems to mitigate health consequences, governments and industry can get ahead of the impending crisis.? ?
