New programme opens doors for international healthcare workers
A new Amsterdam Area initiative is breaking down barriers for international talent while addressing critical staff shortages in the healthcare sector. The programme’s 2024 cohort of 27 participants – including doctors, nurses and other specialists – received access to support such as Dutch language lessons, networking events and guidance on certifications. Ten participants have since become employed and others are pursuing opportunities. With plans to scale up efforts in 2025, the programme will guide more untapped international talent into healthcare and other sectors with labour shortages.
IND updates
Hand in documents upon exiting the Netherlands
Do you have any employees who are permanently leaving the Netherlands? If so, remind them to return their residence documents to the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). Any accompanying family members’ documents must also be returned. Hand them in at an IND desk or sent by post. ?
Sponsor applications via the IND digital portal
In the first quarter of 2025, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) will enable companies to apply digitally for labour sponsor recognition. Via the IND's Business Portal, the application will require access with eHerkenning (eRecognition) and prompt applicants to pay the associated fees upon submission, expediting the decision process. ? To submit the digital application as an authorised representative on behalf of a company, you will also need chain authorisation.
Join the International Dual Career Network (IDCN)
The International Dual Career Network (IDCN) has launched an Amsterdam-Utrecht chapter. IDCN members already include IN Amsterdam, UvA, PwC, and L’Oréal. Annual organisational membership costs €1,400 and entails hosting one or two career events for members each year. More members means more opportunities for all. To sign up, contact Erik van Zetten [email protected] (UvA) or Conchita van der Sande [email protected] (IN Amsterdam).
