We had a tremendously busy and exciting IPPE this year. I am extremely grateful to all our members who volunteered at our booth, supported our two events, and mentioned IPWA or US-RSPE during Tech Talks (special thanks to Fernanda Castro !), presentations, or networking conversations. IPPE was a great example of how our member-led organizations are dynamic, active, and supportive.
Now is the time to?join IPWA?or make the most of your membership! And mark your calendar, save the date September 3-6 for the Poultry Sustainability & Welfare Summit.
I also want to highlight Ken Opengart, DVM, PhD, DACPV , who was honored with a well-deserved award at IPPE. While there have been many, many people who have been integral to our success at standing up for both of these organizations, none have been as central a figure as Ken.
He is the Past Chair of the Poultry & Egg Foundation Board of Trustees, the Past Chair of IPWA, and currently on the US-RSPE Board of Directors. Notably, he was a part of the group with the vision of founding these organizations before we got started in 2019. His leadership saw the IPWA Key Welfare Indicator (KWI) Guides across the finish line. His experience, dedication, passion, knowledge, and mentorship have been priceless.
Key Welfare Indicator Training Modules Successfully Launched at IPPE
The Key Welfare Indicator Guide Modules were officially launched at IPPE!
The Training Modules launched to much press and tremendous positive reviews at IPPE during our Research and Innovation Icebreaker Event.
These online learning modules are educational training modules designed to complement the IPWA Key Welfare Indicator (KWI) Guides.
Developed in collaboration with Fresno State's Center for the Optimization of Poultry (COOP), these training modules aim to enhance industry knowledge and promote best practices in poultry welfare.?
Four broiler-focused modules are live now, with plans for turkey and laying hen training modules to be added in 2024 and translations into other languages scheduled for 2025.
