SASE is Driving Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 is the digital revolution that is encouraging manufacturers to leverage data for greater efficiency and better decision-making. This digital transformation allows for incredible innovations in manufacturing, like smart factories, the streamlining of production, optimization of material ordering and factory automation.

Under the Hood of Industry 4.0

To support these positive changes, manufacturers need to ensure their security and network connectivity are up to par. Industry 4.0 relies on sensors, robots, connected devices and global connectivity, as well as security of their HMI, SCADA, OT, and IoT systems. This means high performance and secure connectivity are a critical factor in the success of manufacturing.

Success Starts with SASE

SASE is the technology that provides Industry 4.0 and manufacturing organizations with a single solution for all their networking and security needs. All locations are connected securely via encrypted tunnels, instantly granting full visibility and control with the performance of network optimization and a global private backbone. SASE can even help remote or rural locations, providing reliable middle-mile connectivity.

On top of the seamless, simplified connectivity between locations, user access is enabled for employees and third parties to monitor, configure, and operate the equipment. Remote users connect based on zero-trust policies and enjoy the same benefits as locations regarding network performance and reliability. All traffic is inspected and secured by multiple engines (SWG, FWaaS, IPS, NGAM, DLP, etc), ensuring nothing harmful comes in, and nothing sensitive gets out.

The first step for success with Industry 4.0 is success with SASE.

Free Resources

  • Manufacturers who replace their legacy networking solutions with SASE will benefit from global connectivity, remote access, cloud connectivity, flexibility, speed and performance, cost reduction, an improved user experience and enhanced security.

  • O-I Glass, an Ohio-based glass bottles manufacturer, deployed Cato’s SASE Cloud solution. They were able to provide faster, more secure and higher performing access to their 25,000 employees spread across 70 plants in 19 countries, save 20- 30% in costs and even deploy innovative methods for improving the manufacturing process.

  • According to Gartner, the single-vendor SASE market is projected to grow substantially. A third of all new SASE deployments by 2025 are expected to be single-vendor.

  • Before SASE, network and network security services were delivered through multiple point-solutions. Today, some enterprises are still trapped in this upside-down world. In the parallel, modern world, SASE offers a single cloud-native network and security service for all networking and security needs.

SASE’s Value in Manufacturing

A global, converged cloud-native SASE platform allows manufacturing companies to improve their capabilities and performance. They can respond quickly to unplanned events, see improvements in network performance, save 20x the cost on bandwidth and reduce their attack surface to improve their security posture.

The price IT has to pay? Nothing. In fact, SASE allows IT to easily set up configuration and management.

Howard Holton, CTO of GigaOm analyst firm, and a 30-year veteran as CIO in the manufacturing industry, is our guest in this webinar. The webinar covers the major networking and security challenges in enterprise manufacturing and how the right SASE cloud platform can solve those larger organizational and industry challenges.
