Earlier in February, as Eagles Fever was running through Philadelphia, AKCG partnered with Neumann University to tell the story of four sport management majors who were hired by an organization called Living Sport to work the Super Bowl. Christie Illeto, a reporter from Philadelphia’s top-ranked station, 6abc, interviewed the students for a story that aired three times in the 24 hours before the Big Game.

AKCG worked with Marsha Wesley Coleman, the Director of Learning and Development at Friends Services Alliance, to develop and secure a guest column in McKnight’s Senior Living, an important vertical for the aging services industry. In the piece, Coleman counsels her colleagues on organizational development, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) matters. The column also allowed Coleman to reflect on her family history, celebrate what her ancestors did to provide for her family, and highlight the work health industries must do to move forward.???

What inspired you to seek out a career in communications?

Before college, I didn’t really know how to define communications. It was too broad for me to wrap my head around. By graduation, I knew I wanted to work in the communications field. This was because over time, I recognized how impactful and fundamental communications careers are to bettering interpersonal relationships and understanding yourself and your community. I’ve realized our most important conversations and relationships are dependent upon efficient and clear communication, and I wanted to be a part of that.
