February 2023
Welcome to the end-of-month, February Issue of AnalystX News, where we share what we have achieved in the past month and what more you can look out for in the future!
But before we begin, we have been delving into the world of social movements and wanted to share why we think AnalystX is becoming a good example in this space. Marshall Ganz, a renowned community organiser and Harvard professor, argues that social movements work because they mobilise people's collective power to effect change. Social movements are successful when they are able to tap into people's shared values, emotions, and identities, and channel these into a cohesive, powerful force for social change.
?
Ganz identifies three key components that are essential for the success of social movements:
Story: Social movements need a compelling narrative that connects people's personal experiences with broader societal issues, and creates a sense of shared purpose and identity among participants.
Strategy: Social movements need a clear and effective strategy for achieving their goals, which involves building relationships, mobilising resources, and creating a plan for action.
Structure: Social movements need a strong organisational structure that allows them to mobilise and coordinate large numbers of people, sustain momentum over time, and adapt to changing circumstances.
According to Ganz, when these three components are combined effectively, social movements have the potential to create lasting social change by shifting the balance of power in society, changing the norms and values that underpin social institutions, and creating new models of social organisation and governance. Which of these three: story, strategy and structure do we need to work on further?

National Competency Framework
The work on phase 3 of the competency framework is almost complete. You can keep up to date with the latest news and how you can stay involved via the National Competency Framework LinkedIn.
Current opportunities to engage:
Calling all data engineers – we have made some tweaks to the data engineering core competencies, and we would like these to be reviewed by a "flash" working group. First meeting will be week commencing 13th March.
Everyone will be able to take an early look at the new additional competencies for Leadership & Management, Working in Projects and Behaviours and complete a short survey to tell us their views.
We are looking for early adopter sites to take on the challenge of implementing the framework from April 23, we will use your experiences to create the case studies that will help later sites adopt the framework in national rollout.
