The book How To Be an Effective Statistician: A Guide for Statisticians, Data Scientists, and Other Quantitative Scientists in Medicine written by Dr. Alexander Schacht is one of the resources i chose to feature in this edition, and for a reason. My thoughts on this book are best explained with the fact that its probably by the fact that this is one of the first books i officially recommended.

Statistics and Data Science books, courses and other resources are often very technical and cover mostly technical aspects of the profession. However, in reality, we often need strong leadership and communication skills to be very good at these professions. Alexander wrote this book to go beyond the traditional Statistics and Data Science 'technical' book premise. It provides the guidelines and stories on how to advance leadership skills and combine then with technical skills in Statistics and Data Science.

Dr. Alexander is a leader himself, a successful Statistician, Entrepreneur, Scientific Communicator, The Effective Statistician community and podcast creator and the list could go on. In the book he shares real tips and tricks on how to really be an Effective Statistician, Data Scientist, but also any Quantitative Scientist in Medicine by combining the technical skills and domain knowledge with other soft skills needed in most of these fields.

In my opinion, an accent is on Leadership and Scientific communication for Quantitative professionals and this is one of the key focal points of this book. I personally had the chance to learn a lot about communication skills from Dr. Alexander and the book is really a 'golden' resource for anyone looking to learn more about situational leadership, effective communication for scientists, effective storytelling and much more.

This book is also a great resource for career development as these skills may become crucial for anyone at any career level, from junior careers at the starting point to executive and leadership levels.
