Features to consider when buying a new smartphone

The sheer number of choices can often leave you confused. Therefore, making a decision becomes difficult.

To help you with your decision-making, i will specify the most important factors to take into consideration:

Battery

Are you the kind of user who is likely to have multiple apps open simultaneously? Do you see yourself being a heavy consumer of video-streaming apps or playing games? Using browsers usually drains the battery faster, so consider getting a high performance battery.

Memory

Phones have two kinds of memory – Random Access Memory (RAM) and Read Only Memory (ROM). RAM, along with the processor of your phone (see below), determines the speed of the phone and its ease of operation. ROM is the memory itself, the place where all the data, files etc is stored whereas RAM is a short-term memory which is useful to do several tasks at the same time.

Therefore, it stands to reason that phones with higher RAM will be faster and those with higher ROM will have more storage. Nowadays, the minimum RAM would be around 3gb-6gb while the ROM, depends on how much storage you will use, i personally recommend at least 64gb.

Processor

These days there are a lots of different ones like quadcore, octa core, Snapdragon, MediaTek and so on. A good tip is to look at the GHz (gigahertz) of the proccesor, the number should be as big as possible if you would like to use the smartphone to do hard tasks like editing video, playing games etc. However if you will use it for daily tasks for example, send messages, take photos or record audio then you won't need a great processor.
