This screenshot is from boutique hotel Kilcamb Lodge, on Loch Sunart, near Fort William in Scotland. A picture perfect spot, surrounded by wildlife and wilderness. To improve their organic traffic we decided to target for featured snippet terms like "Scottish wild animals".

Featured snippets are known as position zero because they come above all other results.

8% of search traffic clicks on featured snippets, and claims are made that revenue is also increased.

Like all SEO, a long-term strategic approach is needed. Start with long-tail keywords. You are more likely to be successful with a very specific search phase. Use keyword research tools to help identify possibilities.

The low-hanging fruit here is with terms you already rank well for. Use Google Search Console to review these.

You still need to write great content, that is SEO optimised and with appropriate schema mark-up. It needs to be factual and well structured. Great images, clearly titled, will also help.

As with all SEO practices, Google makes regular changes on how it ranks pages, so always keep up to date on the latest algorithm releases.
