(You don't ask, it don't happen, thank you for your time) Regardless of your level of interest we hope you will enjoy the film when released.
A BUNCH OF FIVES is a thrilling, action-packed feature film in the vein of ultra-successful “Warrior” and “Million Dollar Baby” woven around military exploits and small-town secrets. It’s a story where action and consequence intersect with the mystery of love and hope with an exploration of what it means to sacrifice oneself for the love of another.
Wrapped in and out of a single, brutal boxing match that pits two long- time rivals for a final shot at the light-heavyweight title of the world, A BUNCH OF FIVES is not a fight movie. It’s a movie about a fighter.
A BUNCH OF FIVES — THE FILM
After a military hero turned boxer is gunned down in the streets, his mysterious recovery brings him to a small coal-mining town in the Appalachians where new love and loyalties are tested against a backdrop of buried secrets and murder.
The approximate 100-minute film will be shot with ARRI Alexa cameras, mastered in 4K, and delivered with 5.1 DTS Surround Sound. The film will initially be released with subtitles in English, French, Spanish, and Chinese.
Like most great “sports movies,” A BUNCH OF FIVES is about the people involved much more than the actual event. Still, when the director is a former World Champion martial artist, you can bet the fights will be as real and thrilling as the best ring fights ever captured on film.
The authenticity in the ring is further enhanced with the casting of the current Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Champion, Mike Jimenez, to battle it out in the ring for the duration of a twelve-round fight.
The unique, non-linear structure of the film allows us to introduce a further element of wonder and mystery with the character of Doc Taylor. Like the mysterious caddy in “Bagger Vance,” Doc Taylor colors the story in profound ways that surprise and confound expectations much like the fantasy element of “A Field of Dreams.”
This addition allows us to balance the brutality of the ring fight with an uplifting story of love and forgiveness set against the backdrop of a small-town mystery of murder and intrigue.
A BUNCH OF FIVES — PROJECT OVERVIEW AND LOOK BOOK
Available are a one page financial/ROI, a Look-book and a complete overview of the project, including a detailed synopsis and treatment of the screenplay, a partial list of some of those talent and team already involved, a bio of producer Bruce Bisbey and writer/director Kely McClung, original concept paintings and storyboard illustrations, our first one-sheet (poster), and even our first concepts for the opening titles.
We’re confident that A BUNCH OF FIVES will make its mark in the oeuvre of classic boxing movies. It will entertain, challenge on-going conversation, and find an international audience with a high level of engagement and a lucrative return.
