Be Fearless

My favorite quote from JayZ is “you was who you was before you got here.” Basically your destiny was bestowed upon you, what is , began before your birth. I am who I am and will be who God gifted me to be, so why be fearful? #Befearless

In my lifetime I can recall two prominent and continuously repeated questions? How do I stay so upbeat? And why do you keep moving? I mean duh?! The universe keeps moving, it evolves, blooms, expands. It is fascinating, beautiful, brilliant and mysterious.?And yes, I do hear Erykah Badu in my head. What a day...

Okay so I’m not the universe! But as they say, “Not all who wander, are lost.” I so love an adventure! I love seeing new places, trying new foods, conquering adversities. Adventures to me are exciting, challenging and sometimes educational. So when a new opportunity presents itself that allows me to move to a new location. I’m all about it! Let’s goooooo! So to answer the other question, I stay upbeat, life is too short to be down! Look, if I wasn’t deterred about moving to Mississippi or Tennessee or Georgia, you can’t keep me from moving across the country to Seattle. Sure I heard about the rain, yes, I know there’s not a lot of sunshine and there’s a risk of depression due to a lack of vitamin D and I even heard people aren’t that friendly. (Laughs out loud) But my personal mantra has always been: “If you don’t like me, something’s wrong with you!” I will not be deterred!?

So this is it, I’m moving to the west coast this Friday ! Starting a new adventure! I can’t wait to visit all the places I saw on the food network (obsessed) and I can’t wait to have my mind blown by things like real ice and snow capped mountains and a brewing volcano.Yikes! Y’all I have panic attacks at all elevated bridges! My new location is surrounded by water and you have to take bridges to get anywhere. I need to get a “GoPro” Camera attached to my dash or a headset, this is definitely a made for tv program!

I also can’t wait to visit all the Seattle Sephora locations and the Flagship Nordstrom and these other Flagship stores like the RH that looks like the Biltmore estate and of course the original Starbucks! They say I’m a Top Voice in Retail, so yes that’s exactly what I want to see first! #retaillife #retailguru officially.?

I have lived in Atlanta at least 4 or 5 different times, worked for many companies and basically have watched the boom, the pop and the rise again, #Atlanta will always be my second home! I’ll be back to visit soon. I appreciate every job, every company and coworkers and teams. I take pride in having an impact and making life long friends, let’s stay connected Atlanta! Thank you for everything!

So I’ve never even visited Seattle. Yes I loved Frasier and have watched every episode at least twice and I even watched Cheers and loved it as well, I watched a ton of tv as a kid by the way. Something tells me Frasier and I are not in the same socioeconomic range. (Laughs aloud again)?which brings me to the next most obvious concern about moving to Seattle: an epic lack of diversity. I won’t quote the numbers. Although I know them! But I will say I have moved places with even less diversity and received warm welcomes, invitations to dinners and churches, people heard me speak over the phone and offered me places to live. I was blown away by the warm welcome from a whole community! Again, I’m the daughter of a life long Marine and a charming Southern Bell, there’s always at least two ways to handle a hostile audience (chuckles again!) I’m ready! Can’t wait! My newsletter may have to change its Title and my content may get a little dicey. I’m thinking “Diversifying Seattle, through epic Meals and Conversations.
