Be Fearless
What would you accomplish in life, if you were not afraid? Imagine the businesses you would have started, the degrees you would have earned, or the relationships you would be in if you were not afraid? I am always amazed at how toddlers live without fear. They climb on beds, chairs, and tables without a second thought and somewhere along the line, we lose that sense of fearlessness. We have accepted that the world is made up of a collection of lose lose scenarios and potential dangers. In fact, we become more obsessed with the potential failures, instead of the potential victories. Mark Twain said, "90% of the things we are afraid of, never even happen." If that is true, ask yourself why are you afraid to live your best life? Why are you afraid to step out on faith? Why are you afraid to let something that will not happen deny you happiness. Be Fearless!
Here are four tips to living a fearless life:
1.) Be yourself: You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You have gifts, talents, and skills that make you unique. You are the only person in the world that can do the things you do, the way you do them. Embrace that you are special, intelligent, and good enough. Focus on truth telling. The more genuine you are with others, the more genuine you will be with yourself. There are ways to share your feelings even when it hurts, however never sacrifice truth for convenience.
3.) Carpe Diem: Seize the day. We only have one life and there are no dress rehearsals. Say yes to more opportunities. Say yes to getting the most out of life. Say yes to helping others. The more you live fearlessly, the easier it will become!
4.) Focus on the good things: Philippians 4:8 says, whatever is true, honorable, just, lovely, and praise worthy meditate on these things. I would like to add to this scripture by saying, whatever (and whoever) is encouraging, affirming, positive, less dramatic, non-toxic, and easy to deal with meditate on these things (and people) as well!
5.) Give yourself grace: Understand that we all have flaws. Sometimes we can be our hardest critics. Being fearless means not worrying about the flaws because we all have them and knowing that it will all work out in the end.
