“Get on board, but be quick.”

It’s a sentiment common to many in business who suffer from an affliction. It’s called:

F.O.M.O. – Fear Of Missing Out

Often the reason and the justification for the drive are that everyone else is doing “it”. Social and digital media are prime examples. Everyone and every entity should be contemplating both channels. However, it is well to register and to contemplate that arguably up to – and often more than – 90% of new entrants are ineffective, inefficient and in some instances outright incompetent in their use of social and digital media.

Clearly, the contention that there is strength in numbers is a myth. Often an expensive one.

An appealing alternative is the acronym:

                                                                                   F.O.M.O. –

                                                                                   Flying On My Own

Considered, informed and deliberated decision-making does enable one to chart one’s own course, at a time and timing that is best suited. Independence can be a virtue, and a disturbing point of difference.

Therefore, fear no-one, or nothing. Do this for the right reasons.
