Fear Spaces
Flocks of birds are like sinews in the sky
They rush. Torque. Drop. Regroup. Scatter. Glide. Their movements seem effortless, faster than air, more artful than a painter. Yet, much of the impact of these masters of the sky is in the moments in-between the next move. Incredible motions, drops, dips and turns have an almost violent energy, a choreography of impossibilities. They are spellbinding.
Explosive tempers too are spellbinding. And too many people, of all ages, feel the need to watch people around them, with intensity. They look at every move. The looks. The moods. The subtle shifts, and indicators of the possibility of another collapse of calm.
One of the powerful influencers of fear in anxiety is the shortcuts to impact
Looks, stares, situations, motions all have apparent meaning. Actual confrontation and violence doesn’t need to happen. The potency is in the potential of what could happen. The message receivers work hard to prevent the worst of what’s possible. Days, minutes and seconds are heightened experiences of prevention. The art of anticipation becomes a lifelong habit. And it’s exhausting.

Everyday life in everyday spaces in everyday places host spellbinding moments of great grace and beauty. And intense fear. But the spaces that respond to these experiences of life are often very different.?
Looking at experiences as problems creates treatment spaces. The focus is on fixing. Better places for fixing sometimes bring different fixes together. Sometimes though, the problem still defines the space.
Looking holistically at life opens up a spectrum of other spaces, spaces to be, spaces to feel safe, spaces to make sense. Spaces to grieve what could have been. Spaces to discover who we could be.?
Understanding the characteristics of the experiences of life can help make sense of the characteristics of the kinds of spaces to deal with life. Sometimes, these spaces are all in one place. Sometimes these spaces overlap across different places. Sometimes, they are different and separate spaces.?
The best choice of spaces isn’t the same as the best space. Success is building the best choices, with the most accessibility, supporting life between spaces.
