FEAR

FEAR

IN THE PHOTO ABOVE, BRANDON, JENNIFER AND CINDI VEGA. 7 YEARS AGO A TAXI JUMPED THE SIDEWALK AND LANDED ON 8 YEAR OLD BRANDON. HE WAS CRUSHED UNDERNEATH. HE SUFFERRED TWO BROKEN FERMURS, FRACTURED SKULL, BRAIN DAMAGE AND INTERNAL ORGANS CRUSHED. NO PULSE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. HIS MOM (CINDI VEGA) WAS A SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT OF OURS 20 YEARS AGO. WHEN I WENT INTO HOT AND DIRTY INTENSIVE CARE TO PRAY WITH HER AND FOR BRANDON TO BE HEALED. SHE WAS JUST GLOWING IN THE CONFIDENCE OF THE LORD, ALTHOUGH SHE WAS PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTED. SHE HAD A LOT MORE CONFIDENCE IN GOD THAN I DID. SHE HAD FAITH, NOT FEAR!

FEAR ——espa?ol abajo———

Psalm 34:4: I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.

If you truly fear God, you’ll fear nothing else. Fear is a perversion of faith. Faith is excited about the future. Fear dreads the future. The world teaches us to fear. The Holy Spirit teaches us to have faith. Fear and faith both have to do with the future. No one panics about the past, nor can be proud for having faith in something that has already happened. Faith is expectation of good. Fear is the expectation of evil.

PhD’s thesis and deep research sometimes are funny. I met a mathematics PhD Candidate once whose thesis was ‘why does 1+1=2?’ That reminds of a man who took issue with;

Phillipians 4:13 ‘I can do ALL things through Christ’

His exhaustive research on the word ALL resulted that ALL actually meant ALL.

If we truly seek God, He can and will deliver us from ALL fears, IF WE LET HIM.  When we yield to fear, any fear, we are not yielding to God. Fear isn’t of God. In fact God tells us 365 times in the Bible not to fear. If God tells us not to do something, we probably shouldn’t do it. If God tells us to not fear, than to fear is sinning.

Isaiah 41:10 ‘fear not, for I am with you!’

Either we believe God or we don’t.

Ministries and marriages are ruined by fear. Families are destroyed by fearful parents smothering their kids. Jobs are lost because of fear. Fear probably kills more people than boldness does. Fearful people attract problems. I have seen it countless times. Fear is an unhealthy obsession.

God says not to fear, because it’s a spiritual problem. He knows we won’t yield to Him if we are more afraid of something else. Fear is spiritual and it affects our walk with God. Fear says that we don’t trust God. Fear started in the garden of Eden, and hasn’t left us since.

There’s an old joke. A pastor visited a home, and no one answered when he knocked. He left a note ‘Rev 3:20; behold I stand at the door and knock’.  He came back the next day and saw a note on the door that said ‘Genesis 3:10; I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.’

Seriously though, sin is often accompanied by fear, AND fear is often accompanied by sin. If you are afraid you are likely to sin. Obeying fear keeps you from obeying God. It keeps people from witnessing, being honest, praying and going. Fear is a bad testimony.

There is a law of displacement. If you have a glass of milk and put it under a water faucet for a couple of minutes, all the milk will have been displaced by water. The love of God is like that. It displaces all fear if you continuously yield to God’s Love through His Holy Spirit.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Temor

Si temes a Dios verdaderamente, no vas a tener nada mas.

Lo he visto innumerables veces.
