Fear to Love

Fear to Love

Fear and Our Body's Response

I noticed this week that I was progressively moving back into fear from love. I noticed that I stopped my Energy Alignment Method practice, I noticed contrast (some things going well, others not), yet I was ruminating on the negative, not the positive. I noticed that I was not giving myself enough downtime and sleep. And bang! I woke with a massive headache this morning, something I so very seldom experience (but thankfully it's eased off now).

Our bodies are the last port of call when we move into fear - the body records every nuance of negativity and stores it somewhere and manifests it as a symptom (the body is whispering) or worse, a full blown disorder or disease (the body is screaming). Where we experience it is specific to the individual's psyche and linked to the type of fear we're subject to. Listen to the body's whispers, because they're telling you something. In my case, the headache means I've moved too much into my fear or ego mind and I've disregarded my boundaries of self-care: I've compromised my personal needs in terms of rest and balance.

What's interesting is that, as an Energy Alignment Method mentor and complementary therapist, I'm aware of when this happens and I have the tools to counter this, but even then I still self-sabotage. Because I'm human. And humans in this physical dimension and in this world today, are prone to lots of negativity: the negative wiring that wants to hold us captive to our fears and the negativity that's spun out in the world today (whether through mass media brainwashing or systematic parental and societal conditioning). Because I'm a very sensitive person, I pick up on this a lot in my community work (with Thriving Communities), interacting with people who are suffering greatly from anxiety and dis-ease.

We talk a lot about mental health problems and the attention is being focused there so much at the moment. This is particularly so in the wake of Covid-19, because isolation and rampant fear led to many forms of depressive conditions, which so often lead to physical malaise. But the problem with this is that we're focusing our attention on the wrong thing. Because where we place our attention, that's where our energy goes. And where our energy flows, that's what we manifest. Modern science is now backing up with scientific evidence what spiritual gurus and sages knew millennia ago. Just note the psychoneuroimmunology discourses and the neuroscience and epigenetic work of Dr Joe Dispenza and Dr Bruce Lipton.

Rumination

I listened to a meditation this morning on InsightTimer which gave me the inspiration to write this article, especially in the light of my recent ruminations. Rumination and negative self-talk are pervasive human habits and this meditation took a refreshing approach to putting a lid on these habits.

Did you know there are 4 patterns of rumination? These are:

  1. Personalising - when something bad occurs, you always blame yourself.
  2. Filtering - you magnify the negative aspects of a situation and filter out the positive (that still happens a lot to me).
  3. Catastrophising - automatically assuming and anticipating the worst (my sister was great at this).
  4. Polarising - things are either good or bad, there is no in-between. If it's not perfect, it's a failure (I used to be like this, but I've worked to diminish the stickler / perfectionist in myself over the past few years).

Do share if you identify yourself with any of these patterns. Because there are multiple ways of dealing with them and I'm happy to share what works for me. But ultimately, it's about bringing yourself back to a state of love and grace through practices like gratitude, self-compassion, self-affirmation and mindfulness (practices emphasised, because we have to work at this diligently to effect a profound change in our self-concept).

The Antidote to Fear is Love

When you're trapped in negativity and fear patterns, remember that you're made from Source energy, which is (unconditional) love energy. The more you connect back to this Source, the better you feel. It's like your battery is being re-charged from the mainframe. That's not so alien a concept, because we are after all electromagnetic energetic beings. And when you feel better, the energy and world around you shifts. You move through this world as a different person: someone who is more open, more receptive, more kind, more compassionate, more tolerant, more understanding. When you move through the world with love, you are magnetic. Because don't forget we are ALL made of this loving source energy and people are innately drawn to this energy, because we are mirroring what they desire for themselves (even in their calamity and in their downward spiral of negativity).

Hold fast and true to this energy of love. Not only does it heals you from within (cells vibrate positively to thoughts, feelings and words of love and peace), but love also helps to project a beacon of light, hope and possibility to others, who may not at this moment in time have the awareness and perspicacity to identify what's possible for them because they are so low down the energy scale of vibrational emotions (of powerlessness, fear and depression). Coax and nurture yourself and those around you, for this is the mission we serve. We are here to raise the collective consciousness from fear to love, from disempowerment to empowerment, from hopelessness to enlightenment. We are meant to bring heaven on earth.

You are Spirit and Spirit Moves Through You

My time in this physical form may be finite, but my spirit is eternal. The same for you. Do not be fearful of death, death is simply a transition. However, we have been gifted this physical form for a reason. We are all uniquely called to serve. It is your priority to serve in a way that magnifies love, joy and happiness. If you're not living or working towards living in a way that magnifies this source energy, then it is a time of reckoning for you.

Fear will always keep us trapped in illusions of comfort and in mediocrity (what Napoleon Hill in his Outwitting the Devil called drifting and what Don Miguel Ruiz in his Four Agreements called Maya, the Goddess of Illusion). But loving yourself and appreciating your worth will help you expand and identify your spiritual nature: that you are powerful beyond measure. Allow your focus and intention to always be on (unconditional) love and place immense trust in the courage of Spirit energy to lead you onwards and upwards. Whenever doubt invades my consciousness, I deflect this by attesting that the Universe/Source/Divine energy is always there to guide and support me. And any contrast (struggle, difficulty, challenge) I experience in my physical reality is just an opportunity to re-focus and move back into spirit energy and unconditional love.
