Fear-Less and Immune Well

The time has come for me to retire my well-inked Covid quill; and take up fresh quills dipped in the inkwells of other matters, equally worthy of discussion; but before I do so there are three matters to raise.

The Stalwarts

Firstly, to acknowledge the individual efforts of all those who have been stalwarts in raising awareness against the rising tide of madness. As much as I'd love to mention specific names, to do so would mean I may forget to mention others, all over the world, who have been courageous enough to made a stand for common sense against the backdrop of Covid 'non-sense'. I could only hazard a guess at the volume of words that have been directed at raising humanity up out of the pit of ignorance on this matter - but every word worth the while and energy expended.

Keep up your great work, Stalwarts !

A Heartfelt Thanks from Me

Secondly, to thank those who have responded - irrespective of whether that has been positively or not - to my LinkedIn posts and articles relevant to Covid-19. I've both appreciated and enjoyed dialoging with you all, and as an unexpected bonus have developed some acquaintances because of it. Thank you all.

And finally; to wrap up my contribution to the Covid non-sense with this discussion of how fear suppresses our natural immunity.

Fear is not Just a Mind Killer

Thanks to the efforts of mainstream media, sponsored by government, our society has been peppered, nay, bombarded with fear-inducing propaganda inflating the consequences of 'catching Covid' and thereby effectively numbing rational thinking: because fear-induced stress diverts blood flow from the pre-frontal cortex (where creativity and higher functions reside) to our subconscious.

Just think of that word: 'subconscious'. This is where our 'programmes' for daily living reside - a lower level of consciousness: hence 'sub-conscious'. In other words, you're really a functional Zombie whilst in this state.

I bet you won't think of that term in the same way again ....

Impacts on 'the Economy' - aka 'Our Current Way of Life'

The fear of dying from Covid led to extreme myopia (knee-jerk reactions) and unwise decision-making by government that consequently paralyzed the very economies that sustain us.

I'll be the first to admit though, that our economic systems needed to change - but that's a job for another quill on another day ....

Fear also Suppresses our Immune Systems

But here's the kicker. We know that fear breeds anxiety, and anxiety releases the primary stress hormone Cortisol - which curbs functions that would become impediments during rapid fight-or-flight type situations. But, the psychological distress from chronic fear-based stress also causes physiological distress that disrupts, imbalances and suppresses our natural immune systems - which have been imbued with all the magic needed to take down Covid-19 and other lurgies.

So in effect, we worry ourselves sick.

A great article to read on this is "Anxiety about coronavirus can increase the risk of infection — but exercise can help" written by Jennifer Heisz: Associate Professor in Kinesiology and Associate Director (Seniors) of the Physical Activity Centre of Excellence, McMaster University.

Cortisol accumulates in our systems - so repetitive long term fear-based messaging is enormously damaging when there is no respite from continuous exposure to fear-inducing messages.

This is why I have advocated for a long time for a shift away from reporting meaningless case numbers to reports only of deaths from Covid. That would give a true sense of how 'undangerous' Covid-19 actually is - and then folk susceptible to believing 'what the tv says be true' - can breathe again and de-zombie-fy...

Consequences of Lockdowns

The hormone Oxytocin counters and is an antidote to Cortisol. Oxytocin, though, is a 'contact chemical' - meaning it requires close contact to work its magic. Lockdowns effectively banish Oxytocin by forcing people apart. That joy of playing together your children have been missing so much, courtesy of Oxytocin - disabled.

Something epidemiologists and modelers just don't take into account.

Wise Decisions come from Multiple Perspectives

In times of 'global pandemics' one would expect sanity to prevail and wisdom to carry the day.

A lesson to be learned here is that wisdom requires more than just knowledge. It requires inputs from multiple perspectives and disciplines. The more frames-of-refence we have the better our decision-making will be. We should be actively seeking perspectives that are disparate to our own - this is true or authentic curiosity.

So, having relieed on a handful of medical experts from a narrow range of disciplines to inform policy ain't going to cut the mustard.

Fear-Less, and Immune Well

I have to confess that during this journey of articulating my thoughts,?I've personally run the gamut of emotions from (at first) anger to now compassion; as I've encountered many quick on the draw: damning the unvaccinated as being any one of: irresponsible , uneducated or uncaring.

My basal instinct was to name and shame those - but I'm glad I have not - and, instead, exercised restraint: especially as I've recently noticed some loud voices who have changed their tune - as the truth has become self-evident; in no small part through persistent efforts by those with clarity of understanding who been asking the question what the heck is all this fuss about ? (or similar) and had the courage to speak up.

In all we do as human beings, we should strive to live to our highest forms of expression:

Creativity
Compassion and
Courage

Covid-19 has not only become a lesson in management of resources, but management of self. An opportunity on a global scale to become Better versions of ourselves.

Indeed, Covid has provided a gift:

To become, Heart-Led

and to take that way of being and engaging compassionately with our world, into every other aspect of life and living into the future.

Thank you Greg - I really appreciate all your work and reasoned articles. Sorry to hear you are retiring that particular quill - though perhaps this will be the year the truths you have espoused become self-evident and the madness stops? We can hope so anyway! It is always good to know that others are thinking clearly in climate of fear that has been engendered, so thanks again.
