Let’s be honest, leaving a stable job for something new is terrifying.
I’ve worked with professionals who knew they had outgrown their current role. They were frustrated, unfulfilled, and knew deep down that they could be doing more.
But when it came time to make a move? Fear kept them stuck.
The fear of the unknown. The fear of failure. The fear of leaving behind what’s comfortable.
If you’ve been telling yourself, “I’ll leave when the timing is right”, this is for you. Because in most cases, the right time never magically appears. You have to create it.
1. Get Clear on What You Actually Want
Most people don’t leave their jobs because they don’t know what they want next.
Instead of asking, “Should I leave?”, ask yourself:
Once you have clarity on what you want, leaving doesn’t feel like a risk, it feels like a strategy.
2. Stop Telling Yourself You’re Not Ready
Most professionals wait until they feel 100% ready before making a move.
But studies show that men apply for jobs when they meet only 60% of the qualifications, while women wait until they meet 100% (Harvard Business Review).
You are more ready than you think.
You don’t need every qualification. You don’t need to have all the answers. You need to trust in your ability to learn, grow, and succeed.
3. Start Taking Action Now
You don’t have to quit tomorrow. But you do need to start making moves.
The more proactive you are, the less risky it feels when the right opportunity shows up.
Make the Move with Confidence
Your career is too important to be left to fear. If you know you’re meant for more, don’t wait for the perfect moment, create it.
