FEAR IS FUELED BY EGO, BUT OUR CONSCIOUSNESS WILL TRIUMPH.
As human beings, one of the first emotions we experience is fear. Human beings experience fear immediately following their birth. Think of the "fight or flight" scenario which comes directly from our egos. Our ego is hardwired into our DNA, and contrary to ridiculous notions, "that we can rid ourselves of our egos", we cannot.
However, human beings do have the ability to moderate their ego. Think "Good ego" versus "Bad ego" (ego in excess). It is our Consciousness (our conscious minds) that impacts how fear manifests in both our outer world and inner world.
We need our egos for our very existence, both physically and emotionally. Why would you want to rid yourself of ego (a powerful tool and aspect of our personality supporting our survival)? Without ego we would be gelatinous blobs, amoebas, floundering around, and not accomplishing much.
Fear can, and does, keep us alive, but it can also harm us if we become mired in excessive fear. Fear defined: "An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat". This is where our consciousness and control of unhealthy ego comes into play.
As all of us know, ego in excess is NOT healthy either. As with all things, we should attempt seek to find balance. Our consciousness will liberate us.
Fear can be a motivator where our ego is concerned. It can power us forward to accomplish things, overcoming our doubts, and even triumph and succeed. In other words, our positive use of consciousness (our conscious minds)!
By NO means am I promoting that you dishonor your feelings, and especially fears. Your feelings are very real. However, I am requesting that you consider this statement. Is my fear serving me, and or am I serving my fear(s)? Your consciousness creates the world you live in.
An example of a fear serving you is backing away from a cliff. An example of uncontrolled fear is self-serving anger. All of us have both healthy and unhealthy fear(s).
Fear in excess causes further harm to us. We lose our objectivity, trust, and eventually faith in ourselves and or our creator. Our emotional and physical health can become negatively impacted. Examples of fear run amok, are depression, "Agoraphobia", overeating, overly aggressive and angry (taking the offense), PTSD, and or suicidal intentions.
How do we achieve control you might ask? Meditation, mindfulness practices, breathwork (pranayama), diet and exercise are a few methods. I also strongly advocate therapeutic counseling such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). In certain circumstances psychedelics might be useful in building upon the work achieved through mindfulness practices.
PERSONAL ANECDOTES:
I suffered great fears as a child. Most of which were unhealthy. A mystical experience, and inner voice, in early adolescence stated, "Stand your ground. Do not turn and run away in fear". This spiritual experience forever changed my view and perspective of the world in what I believe was a very positive way, but admittedly my unhealthy ego sometimes took this spiritual message too far.
Did I ever experience legitimate fear after that? Yes, I did. "The kind of childhood you read about", and then later wish you did not. Physical and emotional abuse, and criminal violence. I also suffered from many compounded fears (PTSD) that took me decades to overcome and later learn to amicably survive with.

As a man I experienced more real fear(s). Two Near Death Experiences. Doings I should have chosen not to. Being struck by lightning in 1994. Pushing my physical limits further than I intelligently should have. Suffering several life-threatening accidents. Being informed by medical doctors, "I would never walk the same", and then proving them wrong.
Recently, I received another horrific "medical diagnosis", and I have turned to intense meditation, prayer, and in a few isolated circumstances I utilized Psilocybin to overcome my intense fear(s).
Do I still have fear(s), both legitimate and unhealthy? Yes, I sure do. Again, I spiritually keep returning Back to the Basics - Meditation and Prayer. I have unwavering faith in my creator ("my mother, father, God"). You have got this, and "thy will be done".
Human beings possess incredible resilience and fortitude. We possess an amazing ability to heal ourselves. Each of us can learn control our fears.
