fear of failure

“If a person is living out his Personal Legend, he knows everything he needs to know. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” - The Alchemist

This is one of my favorite quotes from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho; I love it so much I have it tattooed on my left arm above a representation of Santiago at the Pyramids. I was drawn to this quote before I had the chance to understand how pursuing and living your authentic life (Personal Legend in The Alchemist) results in our ability to find all of the answers we seek from within---it's almost like the book was planting this understanding in my mind.

I’d add to this quote that one of the ways to combat the initial fear of failure is to design a plan to continue living your authentic life.

Once you have overcome that fear and you experience how things begin to unfold in in your authentic life, it becomes easier to trust that you know everything you need to know and that everything will work out---don’t be fooled though, this does not mean that everything will be perfect or will go your way, but that you will be ok and everything will work out the way it is supposed to because you are living your authentic life.
