Fear or Excitement?

Did you know that fear and excitement are induced by the same chemical in your brain?
So, maybe when you feel that chemical in your brain, next time you can assess what might be exciting you instead of frightening you.
Many of my clients experience this chemical in their brain at the cusp of choosing whether to pursue owning a business which would include: learning new skills, meeting new people, making a new income, going places they haven't gone before, using different intellectual muscles they haven't ever used before and having wins they have never experienced.
Some interpret this as "too risky" OR, danger and, thus, FEAR. They back away and choose to live with the regret of never knowing, never doing, never experiencing. They tell themselves "it's for the best that I don't do anything different. It costs something and I don't want to risk making a mistake."
Others go for investing in themselves by owning a franchise business. 98% who go for it have no regrets and wish they'd started sooner. They believe the cost was well worth the INVESTMENT IN THEMSELVES. They believe they were, and are worth it.

Which would you be?
Think back to the last time you said, "no" to an opportunity. You want to believe it was because you engaged your reason and logic and made the "mature" decision. But be honest with yourself. Did fear play a part in your choice to back away? If so, perhaps there was a misinterpretation and you were actually on the cusp of something so new that you didn't process it as an opportunity, but categorized it as danger.
The mind is a beautiful thing. Don't misinterpret what it's telling you.
I walk with my clients through the entire experience of learning about, understanding, and exploring business ownership possibilities. My clients go forward with eyes wide open to assess if ownership is right for their goals. I introduce my clients to at least three business opportunities that will meet their stated goals, and we move forward from there together. Cost-free, sales-free, learning and exploration

3 年I've learned to give myself 2-3 days to process the feeling so that I can get about the best answer for me, Gloria Spielman, because sometimes it is difficult to distinguish the subtle difference between fear and excitement.

3 年Gloria - A great reminder that we should all engage in introspection when facing any important decision. Oftentimes we misinterpret our initial "gut" feelings, sadly to our detriment.
