fear comes out of the unknown

fear comes out of the unknown

The title of this weeks’ article came out of the mouth of a very thoughtful client the other day during a conversation we were having about Presentations and the fear they generate for those who give them.

We agreed that it is the norm for Presenters to experience fear and panic… it’s our ego protecting itself… but it’s miserable, non-the-less and with practice and time, if we persevere, our nerves can ease off.

We agreed that there are too many people with something worthwhile to share…a skill, an interest, a cause…who are being put off from sharing their experience with the rest of us because the stress is just too much for them to handle ?and, another thing... they can’t see themselves in what is perceived to be a ‘telling’ mode rather than the ‘sharing’ mode we should be in during a presentation.

If you’re an expert in a specific field with which you are absorbed, you could pass bravely through the fear barrier in order to tell us about it. On the other hand, some experts may find the gap between their level of competence and that of beginners just too big. But that can be managed by adopting a mentoring role.

It may be a rather small but hugely valuable range of people with rich experiences to share who persevere and get through the Presentation fear barrier. But......

extreme sports enthusiasts, explorers, conservationists, board games aficionado's, painters...we need you to stimulate the curiosity and creativity of the rest of us.

Social Media is an ideal channel and if you like, I’ll help you get over your nerves barrier for free!

Perfect!
