FDmiX: The future of nanoparticle production | EU product passport | Data as a raw material | Invitation: Berlin Round Table

Today we are presenting FDmiX, the future of nanoparticle series production. With FDmiX technology, nanoparticles for the encapsulation of active ingredients can be produced quickly and reliably.Major changes are imminent in the circular economy: the European Union is planning to introduce a digital product passport for batteries. This step is intended to significantly improve transparency and sustainability throughout the entire supply chain. Is data already the most valuable raw material in the world for you? Find out how we are turning raw data into valuable resources and laying the foundations for the future. We would also like to invite you to our conference "Berliner Runde". Discuss with experts about new machine tool concepts that harmonize resource efficiency and environmental compatibility with quality, productivity and costs.

Next generation encapsulation technology FDmiX: Fast and robust series production of nanoparticles Nucleic acid-based drugs, such as mRNA vaccines, offer enormous potential for medicine and new therapeutic approaches. In order for these drugs to be transported specifically into the body's cells, they must be encapsulated in nanoparticles.

? FDX Fluid Dynamix GmbH

With FDmiX, short for Fraunhofer Dynamic Mixing Technologies, Fraunhofer IPK in cooperation with FDX Fluid Dynamix GmbH has developed a technology platform for the production of nanoparticles that achieves a previously unattainable particle quality and stability. Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical company Lonza has now licensed the technology for its GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) production.

From February 2027, a digital battery passport will be required for all new traction, two-wheeler and industrial batteries with a capacity of more than 2 kWh placed on the EU market. The aim is to ensure transparency and sustainability in the battery value chain, reduce environmental impact and support secondary recycling of batteries. The Battery Passport is the first digital product passport to be introduced at European level. It serves as a pilot – other passports are planned for textiles, electronics and construction materials, for example – to ensure data exchange in the supply and value chain and compliance with environmental and social standards.

From raw data to refined resource Data as fuel: the new era of Industry 4.0 A few years ago, The Economist boldly declared, ?The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil but data?.

While previous industrial revolutions were defined by the dominance of fossil fuels, the age of Industry 4.0 revolves around data. Today, data rooms are the key to digital value creation, enabling organizations to securely manage and share data across the enterprise. Standardization plays an important role in making data widely usable, especially in machine learning and data analytics. Maintaining data sovereignty is becoming increasingly important, as demonstrated by projects such as Gaia-X and Catena-X. The end-to-end use of data is crucial for networked value chains, and Fraunhofer IPK's analyses play a key role here. The use of real-time data opens up new business opportunities such as proactive maintenance and personalized products that will shape the future of the manufacturing industry. Data is the most valuable asset of our time, and its importance will continue to grow in the future.
