The easiest way to deal with conflict
I almost got into a fist fight with someone yesterday.....thankfully I was able to resolve that conflict without the need for violence with this very simple technique
A technique every security guard or police officer is taught when learning how to deal with conflict.
And it is to simply agree with the person.
And here is how it works....
I took my son to "Monster Truck Mania" yesterday and met someone who I would place in the lower forms of human life.
Due to the noise of these trucks my son and I left the arena to get him some headphones
When we returned this gentleman was in our seats. So I kindly pointed it out to him.
After the usher also pointed it out to him?he responded with a long list of expletives, name calling and aggression and that he was going to settle this outside once the show was over.
So what did I do. I simply agreed with him.
I said yes mate, you're right I am a such and such, and I will meet you by the exit sign in an hour or two. Can I just enjoy the show in my seat first.
All very calmly.
And his response, he walked off and the conflict was avoided. And the usher said "wow you handled that calmly thank you"
So how does this work for finance people when they are in conflict with the silly ideas people present to us.
Ideally you won't have to consider a fist fight with a neanderthal....but the easiest way is to agree with their intention or objective.
And if you are unsure just ask. What are you trying to achieve?
You can always agree with that.
And then slide in the things you would also like to see from your perspective
Conflict avoided and now you have the other person in the space of consideration, not objection.
And you avoid setting a bad example for your son!?
The impact of Introversion in Finance
"I am not what happened to me, I am what I chose to become" -?Karl Jung
Two thirds (65%) of Finance individuals have a preference for introversion - and it can severely impact you if you let it turn from a preference into something that defines you.
Our entire global facilitation team are now fully accredited to profile our delegates using the globally renowned Insights Discovery tool.

This profiling helps them understand what their preferences are. How they take in information, how they process it and how they display it to the world.
But more importantly how to leverage those preferences, and also build on those things we don't have preferences for.
Because whether we like it or not in finance we do have to deal with extroverts.
And those extroverts respond well when we turn up displaying the same preferences as them.
We call it adapting to your audience.
If you are interested to learn more just contact me and we can arrange a session to profile your entire team and increase their own self awareness.?And then show them how to recognise their audiences preferences and adapt to them. Its powerful stuff for any Finance individual.
