FBI - When Hope is All you Have Left

FBI - When Hope is All you Have Left

17 February 2018

“Until we, as a country, are willing to get serious and talk about mental health issues, lack of available care for the mental health issues, lack of discipline in the home, horrendous lack of parental support when the schools are trying to control horrible behavior at school (oh no! Not MY KID. What did YOU do to cause my kid to react that way?), lack of moral values, and yes, I’ll say it – violent video games that take away all sensitivity to ANY compassion for others’ lives – as well as reality TV that makes it commonplace for people to constantly scream up in each others’ faces and not value any other person but themselves, we will have a gun problem in school,” -- Kelly Guthrie Raley, Eustis Middle School Teacher of the Year 2017-2018.

1999 - The Columbine Massacre: It appears we learned nothing...

Cruz had been diagnosed with the neurological disorder autism. -- “He was ostracized his whole life,” -- To Cruz, the campus’ sun-splashed courtyards were a dark place where he was mocked and ridiculed for his odd behavior, according to interviews with close family friends, students and recently released police and mental health reports. -- “Someone could have approached a faculty member, a guidance counselor, a teacher and said, ‘This kid gets bullied a lot, someone should do something,” said student Manolo Alvarez, 17, who had history class with Cruz. “I regret definitely not saying anything.” -- To longtime friend, school shooter Nikolas Cruz was lonely, volatile, ostracized: Miami Herald, 17 February 2018, 6:44 pm.

We need to care, we need to be aware, we need to respond when a need presents itself.

Parkland School Shooting

Focus moves to inability for law enforcement to respond to warning signs on social media.... Sheriff demands immediate action, tools to address terrorist threat, interconnection with domestic terrorist groups - National Counterterrorism Center. -- Social media paints picture of racist 'professional school shooter': CNN, 15 February 2018.

No one seems to get it, that the weapons are already sold, panic buying took place after the Newtown School Shooting (2012) and every mass shooting incident since, when the press spotlighted a threat to purchase these weapons. The 33,000 violent gangs scenario and 50 Cals, on the streets is another discussion.

Hope is what FBI agents, working in the field, live by every day... because the threats are so big, and gaps so large, that HOPE we are not hit, is all that's left.

In 2012, I was on the way to a Special Operations Medical Association Conference, learned about the Newtown School Shooting while waiting for a connecting flight. With the help of the Journal of Special Operations Medicine (JSOM), I activated the HRI emergency management network (3100 city/county areas, 50 states) to spotlight the importance of TCCC.

Worldwide Threats Hearing: 13 February 2018 - Christopher Wray discusses arrest of 34-year-old Naif Abdulaziz M. Alfallaj of Weatherford, Oklahoma:

The indictment alleges Alfallaj attended the al Qaeda-operated al Farooq terrorist training camp near Kandahar, Afghanistan, around September 2000 and filled out a form using a nickname. -- Oklahoma Man Who Attended Terrorist Training Camp Indicted:News 9, 7 February 2018.

The question now is just how many terrorists have trained at training camps in Syria-Iraq-Afghanistan, that are now in the U.S. and represent sleeper cells. -- 20 'Vetted' Refugees Who Turned to Terrorism - 580 Terrorism and related convictions since 911 - 78 from 7: HRI: H-II OPSEC, February 2017.

Thank you Timothy Gill, CFE for passing this on. You are one person, 12 years managing joint FBI-CIA operations against international terrorism, who I a take very seriously, with regards to your insight. There is no place for infantile politics in national security, apolitical, peer reviewed, vetted intelligence based, must be our gold standard, when we are discussing WMD threats that could leave Washington, DC, NYC, London, Paris, Brussels, uninhabitable.

We need to address how the FBI was destroyed from within, via appointees to top leadership positions without field experience, impact on the capacity for field agents to execute their mission, catastrophic impact on national security.... especially with regards to CBRNE WMDs, etc., etc.

In deepest appreciation for all those in FBI, who work hard every day, to the fullest of their capacity, to keep this nation safe Law enforcement is the first and last line of defense with regards to CBRNE WMD surveillance, containment and control. And this includes federal law enforcement.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces, or JTTFs, are our nation’s front line on terrorism: small cells of highly trained, locally based, passionately committed investigators, analysts, linguists, SWAT experts, and other specialists from dozens of U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Hope is what FBI agents, working in the field, live by every day... because the threats are so big, and gaps so large, that HOPE we are not hit, is all that's left.

Are Syria's Chemical Weapons Iraq's Missing WMD? Obama's Director of Intelligence Thought So.

Weekly Standard, 10 April 2017

Special thanks to the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies:

Former US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for International Technology Security John Shaw contended that a wide-scale smuggling operation of Iraqi chemical and biological weapons, together with related components, from Iraq to Syria took place in the weeks before the March 2003 US operation in Iraq. He detailed that the Russian “Spetsnaz” (Special Operation Forces) had organized large commercial truck convoys for CBW removal; whatever CBW was not buried in Iraq was put on those trucks and sent to the Syrian border. The goal of the clean-up was “to erase all traces of Russian involvement” in Iraqi CBW programs, and it “was a masterpiece of military camouflage and deception.” -- Why Won’t Russia Support the Investigation of Chemical Weapons Attacks in Syria?: Lt. Col. (res.) Dr. Dany Shoham, January 31, 2018
