Could Be Worse

Katy was back at her desk the next day, a little paler, a little thinner than she had been a week earlier.

“You really had it bad,” I said. “

Katy said, “I was in the ER three days ago. You didn’t get that bad?”

“I got sick, maybe a little disoriented, but I was out of bed in a couple of days.”

“Be grateful, it could have been a lot worse.”

I was grateful. This was one of many times in my life when things could have been a lot worse.

Today I’ll be grateful for times it could have been worse.
