Applications for?an?international selection procedure are open until?for the recruitment of an Initial Level Ph.D. Researcher?is currently open until December 26, 2023, for the recruitment of an Initial Level Ph.D. Researcher?to carry out research activities in the scientific area of Architecture, in the scope of the Project 'R2U Technologies', funded by the 'PRR – Programa de Recupera??o e Resiliência', financed by the European Union.

The 'R2U Technologies' project brings together a multidisciplinary and highly qualified consortium, composed of companies and entities from the technological and scientific system, including the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) through the research group of the Digital Fabrication Lab (DFL) at the Center for Studies of Architecture and Urbanism (CEAU). By aggregating relevant know-how and expertise in various areas related to the construction sector, the "R2U Technologies" project aims to carry out the development and industrialization of the disruptive industrial concept of modular construction in Portugal.

The selected candidate will contribute to various tasks, including the development of a system/tool for assessing the quality of modular construction projects, incorporating the principles of the New European Bauhaus, considering criteria, weighting methods, and communication strategies.?Additionally, the selected candidate will be involved in the development of products - materials and construction systems - geared towards modular construction, with a focus on the use of cork and wood.

The work will be carried out on a full-time basis at the facilities of CEAU-FAUP, specifically at the Digital Fabrication Laboratory, under the guidance of the Project Coordinator at FAUP.

Candidates are required to hold a Ph.D. degree in the scientific field of architecture. Preferential conditions include academic qualifications and scientific/professional experience in the field of architecture, with a specific focus on digital transformation in architecture and, additionally, on modular construction and/or sustainability.
